I am looking for all the angst this movie will cause before it is released. Then the build up to release. Then the ignoring of original projects. Then the eventual complaining about there not being any original projects.

I would guess this would be destined for loss leader, Disney +.

I don't see how they would release it in theaters after Dumbo. That's the reason Lady and the Tramp, Pinocchio and Peter Pan were released in D+ as well. If it's not a movie with one of the princesses or based on a 90s movie then it's going to be on Disney+.

It is also pretty funny, that this move which so many claim to not want had two threads. Both were multi-pages. Yet an original movie down the page has 2 posts.

Yet the studios are the issue.

I don't lose sleep over Disney decisions, but it's a shame all that time, budget, and talent goes into these live action remakes. These productions take years and lots of effort; I'd prefer they spend on original projects instead of remaking already perfectly fine timeless classics.

I'm still waiting for that one good reason why it's necessary to remake these classics. Just one! You can pick on the the naysayers that poo-poo each and every one of them. But, how about backing up why they should be remade? The days of these remakes printing money are probably unlikely for the foreseeable future, at least until things change at the company.

What's baffling is that some of them are straight to Disney+ so Disney themselves don't really expect them to have any profit, so why even bother?

Bambi will be the last of the big five to be remade (cause there's no way Disney will remake Fantasia, unless you count The Nutcracker) and so far they haven't had a good record with them (Pinocchio, Dumbo). Snow White is coming out next year so we'll see how that goes. I expect Bambi to be as uninvolving and dull as The Lion King, but probably not as offensive as its DTV sequel (the only one of the five to get one), and I'm not sure I'll even bother with this remake.

Because box office receipts is not the only way to make money on these projects.

They can reintroduce merchandise which s going to sell.
They can charge Facebook, twitter, google, and Instagram for the pumped up algorithm that happens whenever these things are announced.

You want these things to stop? Stop talking about them and put your time into original projects. The only thing the studios do not like is apathy.

The more it is talked about and the more youtube videos are created the more you will get of this.

Stop it.

It's called a changeover. The movie goes on, and nobody in the audience has any idea.

I think the heads of the company have active disdain for their classic library and enjoy denigrating Disney's heritage. An example is when John Lasseter was head of Disney Animation, we got that Wreck-It Ralph sequel with those terrible depictions of the Disney Princesses and Lasseter allegedly said that he enjoyed seeing them knocked down from their pedestal.

Another example is the latest release for Snow White featured a bonus feature on its "legacy." The entire feature was about how problematic and dated Snow White was but the reason we shouldn't cancel it is because it paved the way for the "real classics" that are woke and empowering.

It's no coincidence that no actual Disney family member has any involvement with the company now. Roy Disney died just shortly after Bob Iger come onboard so that's more or less when Disney stopped being Disney.

Did Lasseter really say that? What an !@#%$. Nice, John.

You appear to be right about current Disney bosses "hating" classic content. They look to remake it all with "modern updates", jammed in stuff that dosent belong and a cheesy corporate feel to it all. Just makes the Disney content I have on disc that much more precious.
