They're streamed using their in-house upconverter for a 1080p compatible signal. They haven't been upconverted "professionally" like some SD->HD remasters on Blu-ray. It's not much but it does look a bit better than Netflix's SD streaming from before. |

I'd imagine new SD masters from the tape masters would be superior to the DVDs. Things like the Trek shows and The X-Files didn't have the best treatment on DVD. It wouldn't be a night and day difference, but considering some of the releases we chase for slightly better encoding it could be decent enough for some.
But we would all love HD masters, even if they're hybrids. |
