I saw a used one on sale but there aren't many written reviews for it online. The owner says it hasn't ever been able to get through a full movie without being plugged in but that it was good for 3D movies.
I have a few 3D discs but no monitor/TV that can play them. Over the last few months I have had a hankering to want to try 3D at home but don't think I will ever have the chance of doing this with a TV. A used wearable headset seems to be maybe one of the few possibilities out there currently. Is Vuzix Iwear good at all? I searched the forums here and didn't find one mention of it. Any other possible wearable headsets (or cheap projector) that might be better? |

I watched a video review and seems like they suffer from the same issues as other headsets, such as the Royole Moon. A great idea on paper, but in reality is pretty uncomfortable and awkward to use.
If VR is preferable to you, I recommend Quest 2, though you will take a hit in resolution and can’t plug directly into a HDMI source. But being untethered is a big bonus and I actually don’t mind the resolution dip. I wouldn’t use it as my main player, but it has its uses plus VR is a lot of fun. If watching 3D films is your main objective though and you have the wall space, getting a projector is definitely the way to go and doesn’t have to break the bank. I’m certain there’s a projector thread on this forum. My Optoma DLP was officially reconditioned (half the price of brand new) and still works great 5 years later. |

Yup, I had these...and I might have a pair kicking about somewhere still too, not sure...I'm not entirely sure I'd want to use them again mind. As much as they were cool and they were my fist virtual screen, I just felt that they were not worth the money in the long run. The only thing that made then cool for me was that I could connect them to my iPhone (when I bought the separate connector) and my PS3. Connecting them to my iPhone meant movies on a train (movies on long distance travel) and PS3 meant 3D movies, when it didn't throw temper tantrums.
Thes days I'd suggest either Gear VR, refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Plex (the 2 pieces of hardware can be picked up cheap, Plex is free, although Pass can be done premium, but if you're patient there are always sales) or Meta (Oculus) Quest 2. |
