Just don't forget FS 30 day return policy... this steelbook won't command those type of prices anytime soon.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it sat for a while like the Indy 4 steelbook.

Okay, so on the night before release, I just watched 3 Watchmen Steelbooks end on eBay at about $40US

Maybe it will sit for a bit, you never know

Cheers

That's the old "gotta have it first no matter the cost" mentality... you see it for just about every collectible (toys, comics, sportscards, etc.)

Unless Watchmen was produced in Iron Man type numbers, I don't see it commanding a secondary market premium for a while.

I hope I'm wrong.

I agree, I have a feeling it won't climb in price until it's been classified as OOP for probably a couple months.

Also I didn't get Ironman and I am Legend when they were in stores (wasn't a steelbook junkie back then ) but I didn't pay anywhere near those prices.

Lol, Watchmen will be a decent return, but no way it will hit $100+. I'm in the steel business and the reason IAL and Ironman did so well is because of the rareness of each. FS got like 20-30 max for each of them so the re-sale went through the roof. Indy, TDK, and I assume Watchmen were produced in MASS quantities, many stores got 300+ copies, so the price will not sky rocket.

You are probably right. It seems the market is getting saturated with steel books these days. Look at T2, Gran Torino, and the upcoming Gladiator as examples. I can't see any of those 3 going high in value, there are just too many versions.

One thing that will help Watchmen rise in value is that fact that it's a canadian exclusive.

Not in it for the money by any means, i just love having these beauties in my collection...having said that, based on the prices they are going for on ebay, i wish i had a few extras of Ironman and I am legend lying around!

Indy is a Canadian exclusive. But how can TDK be classified as a Canadian exclusive when it was also released as a ateelbook in Germany and France as well?

I thought the TDK Canadian cover is more or less similar to the German steel?

How do you guys define the word "exclusive" then? To me, I will only call a title exclusive when it is a single release not available anywhere else in the world regardless of whether the cover is different or not?

For example, John Rambo is a German exclusive. And CTHD is a UK exclusive etc?

Different covers yes. But still, TDK was released as a steelbook in more than 1 country. This is not the case with Indy and Watchmen.

From what i've seen, Indy has gotten a little better with value over the last few months.

I think Watchmen will be average at start, what with everyone buying multiple copies, but give it 6-8 months, and you'll start seeing prices go up a bit.

sschen check my gallery, TDK Canada is completely different than Germany. Germany has the same conver of French.

Exclusive in store/country. Watchmen is a FutureShop store exclusive in Canada. Until now it's exclusive country worldwide. James Bond Canada is Futureshop exclusive. James Bond US is Best Buy exclusive (I think). HMV.UK have a exclusive of Transporter 3. Play have also a exclusive Sweeney Todd with booket. TDK Germany is Amazon.de exclusive. Germany MediaMarkt also. France fnac have exclusive.

Japan T2 is not exclusive. Australian Transporter 3 is not exclusive. Spain Twilight is not..

Exclusivity is only apply to it's country.. a exclusive from country A can be common in country B.

Spearmint701 I was simply answering sschen question. To discuss this you can go here
