No need to bother with the theaters for this then.

What do you mean? It got its MPA rating over two months ago (meaning a locked cut) and is showing at Cannes this week well in advance of its release. Seems like a movie that was finished well in advance, probably an artistic decision for no 3D particularly when there was never any 3D announcement for it (Real D tagging a Facebook post is a stretch, it could easily have been a wrong assumption by their social media manager).

Tickets are on sale, and there appear to be no 3D screenings.

Can't imagine this will have any 3D screenings.

It's confirmed it won't - but it will have 4DX engagements.

When the film isn't in 3D, they should call it 2DX...

4DX costs >$15 a ticket. This isn’t worth the price of admission lacking an entire dimension in the ‘4DX’

I go to every 3D 4DX showing, but I’ve never been to a 2DX one.

Okay, thank you for confirming this was never going to be in 3D. I kept thinking, why aren't they stressing or mentioning 3D in the trailers? Sure enough, like The Flash, a 2D only film.

One of the trailers of the film played before my Transformers: Rise of the Beasts show and usually the censor certificates are shown before the trailers are played. 3D is mentioned in the title but the trailer was played in 2D.

Notice the censor date was on April 21, so I think at that time a 3D release was planned, but Lucasfilm and Disney and whoever's behind this film didn't go for the 3D release. Or maybe only the trailers were converted to 3D and not the film, or there was no 3D version in the first place, who knows.

They were doing so much last-minute editing that there was no realistic chance of this being converted to 3D.

Yup, my assumption was a conversion was planned and cancelled, as has been a prolific issue in 2023. Makes sense this happened considering the late changes as 13th mentioned, and also makes sense why RealD were promoting this at one point, as they do not promote movies unless they are at least planned to be in 3D.

At least the potentially dim projection won’t ruin the 3D experience in this one…

Have there been any reports of this film having made-for-3D scenes that stick out in 2D?

I'm thinking like the slo-mo tossing of the grenade right at the camera in the final fight of The King's Man, for example. Disney would never be so bold, but Indy's whip coming out at the audience...

Nothing struck me as being especially designed for 3D. No expert tho!
It's a blast in Imax and at no point did I think "aww if only this were 3D".

Saw it today and loved it. Everything an Indy film needs to have is in it

Maybe it is a blessing this isn't in 3D, we won't have to worry about the Japan blu not having forced subs for all the foreign dialogue! (yeah there's lots)

I think it's really an outstanding movie and possibly it would have been a really amazing experience in 3D, but we'll never know for sure, so it's a moot point.

But imagine, if you will, the scenes
[Show spoiler]surrounding the temporal drift and the Roman siege
in 3D. I think it could have been absolutely spectacular!
