I find that if I wait, it goes out of print forever and can only be had for $200 on ebay and if I don't wait and snag it before it is too late, it remains easily available everywhere for years and years at 1/4 the price I paid.

... I own that True Lies. Looks and sounds great. One blurry shot, early on, when Arnie is climbing out a window, and back into another window. The overhead shot of that is slightly "mushy", yet still not a total loss. Menus are in Spanish. Totally worth it, til Jimmy-boy gets around to it ....

My final spring sale order has been held up by ENTER THE NINJA being out of stock (I ordered on Apr. 23). Yesterday, I checked Kino's site and the film was no longer listed, so I emailed them about my order status. Here's their reply today:

We knew this was coming eventually, but it's sad. Just so happens that I picked up the last of the titles I wanted during the last DeepDiscount BOGO. Guess overpaying for some movies in the last few years was the right move after all.

Decided to just go for it and pick up the remaining 15 titles I wanted from Olive. While it’s likely other studios will pick up some of these, why risk it!

Oof that sucks about Olive. Fortunately for me the only title I really need is the original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers which is fortunately getting a 4K release from Kino so I don't even have to worry about that.

Kino has stated they won’t be picking up the Republic serials in the past. Although who knows! They also said they wouldn’t license ANY past Olive titles due their Director of Acquisitions previously holding the same role at Olive. Clearly that stance changed!

The Republic catalog, which made up most of Olive's, will probably be picked up by someone else.

Whether Kino would pick up some of the titles is an interesting question. The Kino Studio Classics line was started by Frank Tarzi, who put Olive on the map with the Paramount and Republic deals. At one point, you can see Olive and Kino divvying up MGM titles -- for instance, Olive put out MGM exploitation movies like Foxy Brown, Corman's The Wild Angels and Wild in the Streets, while Kino released others like Across 110th St., Man With the X-Ray Eyes, and Panic in Year Zero.

Bottom line: Kino has released more classic Hollywood movies in 4K than anyone else and maybe they'll put out some of the former Olive films in 4K.
