I figured out where they got this artwork from, it matches the artwork for the current movies on vudu

If they had committed to one or the other, I would have understood.

At this point, at least do both so people can not have some weird mish mash in thier collection.

It doesn't even really match that. The colors, sure, but it doesn't have the same posterization effect and the steelback has an "I" that looks like an "I" instead of a "1". I would not be surprised if that's the digital artwork, though.

It amazes me that Universal has kept up with matching Fast and the Furious steelbooks for TEN movies now. I hung on to them and keep getting them solely out of appreciation even though my interest in the actual movies has nosedived.

This doesn't surprise me at all, but it is a bit more terrible since Paramount JUST finished releasing these new steelbooks this week and then announce this unmatching steel the day after. They just do not care.

Held off on the recently released steels because I was skeptical Paramount would do a matching steel for this film. Of course they are not making a matching one, brutal.

At this point I will be waiting for M:I 8 to come out and just buy a complete box set.

John Wick and Transformers are two other recent ones.
I suspect Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will not match the white set or the poster set of steels, either.

Canceled my Walmart order after seeing that I had $18 in Target Circle savings earned. Less than $20 is a good day.

Those were from Paramount.

Dial of Destiny is from Disney.

Dial of Destiny won't even get a SteelBook release in Canada.

This has always been the case in home media, with few exceptions. Design teams come and go,and it's rare that a complete series has a matching set of packaging until well after a series is finished.

The most recent example I can think of is the International (Zavvi,Fnac) Star Wars Steelbooks that had every movie up to this point. I can't think of many else.

The Fast and/or Furious saga is the only one I can think of that has put out the same/similar designs over multiple years

10 years worth of time passing there

For sure Paramount is going to rerelease this again with new artwork and with or without a blu ray disc with it. I’m basing this from what they did with Fallout and Top Gun steelbooks.

They’ll release a whole new set of 1-7 with matching artwork before 8 comes out and the following release of 8 will have non-matching artwork.

Well I don't mean to shatter anyone's hopes but BB is up and its the same as what is posted here unfortunately. Absolutely absurd they didn't match this with the other 6 that was just released!

Not absurd at all.

That's standard for years.

Surprises me that people don't know this by now.

I’m gonna hold off and see if they do a Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2 combined steelbook. I can wait.

Not if you're in the UK. Stopped their designs at #6 and everything after that was mish mash

But you could have still obtained them if you wanted them bad enough It doesn't change the fact that they exist

The point (I believe) being made is that you could have ordered them overseas and had them shipped to you.

Not everywhere went hard zavvi/hmv in those days, and plenty of people here were willing to help a steelbon buyer in need.
