I prefer that compared to releasing the extended cuts *now* with TrueHD 5.1 and not as much effort put in.

I haven't kept track of this thread for a while but 7.1 DTS MA is great news

Does this mean that Warner is moving to DTS?

Why would it? Peter Jackson is probably controlling all the major aspects of this release, they're pretty much his biggest success ever.

Agreed. I have an Oppo BDP-83 which uses the ABT VRS chipset and is about as good as it can get for SD DVD. The EE's on DVD just look very soft on my 60" SXRD. Fellowship is especially bad - Return of the King a bit better, but still. On any rate, I sold nearly all of my DVDs including these a while back.

If he was controlling everything, he would have released the EE's right off, no?

LOL he's holding those off until the Hobbit comes out and I don't blame him. The theatricals will sell like hot cakes and so will the the EEs in 3 years.

well he mentioned, he wants to add something special to EE, so he needs more time to work on it.... as far as I remember...

I'm with DetroitSportsFan. I can't bring myself to buy bootlegs of a movie that can easily be bought. I wouldn't recommend it. Just rent the Blu-Rays when they come out for 1080p LOTR, buy if theatrical cuts don't bother you.

Doesn't stop them releasing the EE and then bringing out a "directors cut" later on.

and in this case, they would still be "double dipping" which is what most people have a problem with. So you're still in the same boat. Personally, I would rather them bring out the theatricals then the EE once PJ has a chance to work on them, instead of them just releasing a crappy version of EE then asking you to rebuy them in the future

Cool Saw LOTR Blu-ray Trailer on 300: Complete BD-Live!

I am not getting this, cause I want the Extended Cuts on Blu, but for the record -- even in the 720p trailer -- LOTRs looks AWESOME in HD! It puts the DVD quality to shame IMHO.

You can download the trailer for it -- and others -- in the BD-Live section of 300: The Complete Experience!
