People will gladly pay a huge premium if it means they don't have to get up off their ass. This is especially true when it's a monthly charge that they don't have to think about. The same thing has been happening with cable TV for decades.

Wall E here we come. I walk because I can and want to keep it that way.

Streaming by design has to evolve at least to the point where it becomes profitable. Every step on that path will degrade it's value to the customer.

iTunes is being replaced on PCs with the AppleTV app in the downgrade of the century. And if you want to use the software you are going to like the new terms.

Lockers where you "own" things that can be taken away at any time were clearly a mistake and they would rather have subscriptions where the money comes in at a constant and predictable rate.

If it all sounds terrible it's because it is and a lot of people are begging for it.

I am very glad for the media I OWN and can pass down to my kids who enjoy it as well.

Can you even download and store 4K media that isn't stolen? - Of course not. Will IP security and punishments for violating service contracts get more severe? ... 100%. It's simple to ban anyone remotely from an online service and sometimes it can be a mistake which can take hours to resolve if they believe you. No thanks,... I am over it for the most part and will be able to cancel most of my subscriptions soon because my kids are off to college where they can't access my Netflix.
[Show spoiler]Guess what Netflix - I had it for them.
I vote early and often for Physical Media.

Streaming and Physical media do a great job of co existing and Physical Media can't harm you so why does anyone actively campaign against it? My theory is they have a some type of stake in the success of streaming or they are jealous of people who can be bothered to have something or in the case of only one miserable person I know - They chose the wrong horse before with HD DVD and they are stubborn enough to never let anything harm their ego.

Wall Street Journal editorial about the fall of Disney...

https://www.wsj.com/articles/ashes-t...-park-525e3b4d

Attendance is declining at the four Disney World theme parks, the Journal recently reported. Average July Fourth wait times at Magic Kingdom were 20 minutes shorter than in 2019. That surprised me as much as it must have disturbed the suits at headquarters. But not for the same reasons. And since I’m not a Disney shareholder, I confess that I took a certain morbid satisfaction in the news.

Looks like Vinegar Syndrome is separating their more naughty stuff to a new sister outlet called Mélusine. Info here. Steedeel should be able to fill in any missing details.

Apple will buy Disney within the next two years in my opinion.

I think it’s easier for VS to do business with potential partner labels if the adult content is shifted elsewhere. Plus, the VS app on Android and Apple needs to meet certain rules, so there is that too.

I mean, female form and sex is taboo in USA for some reason.

On the plus side, it means more filth as it’s opened up a distribution deal with Distribpix, who have a considerable library, as well as labels like Pulse and Command Cinema. Launch is tomorrow, can’t wait.

I can’t stop spending money. As well as the above, just pre ordered Hellraiser 4K boxset, The Hobbit 4K and 3D versions, Beetlejuice, Tremors and ID4, also 4K.

Sister bought me Psycho boxset (pre order) also, so very strong month.

I received two more Criterion titles today:

A western that I know nothing about; a complete blind buy.

And...

Unfortunately, it arrived with a 1/2 inch long crack running from the center of the blu-ray and well into the playback surface area. I had to request a replacement. I guess Heaven can indeed wait.

Not that I care in the slightest about attendance at Disney's Scheme Parks, but maybe the intense summer heat is a factor in the low attendance? I sure as hell could not stand in their endlessly long lines awaiting a ride that likely only lasts 5-10 minutes.

The male form frightens us Yanks even more. Male frontal nudity that shows that which must not be seen can cause outright here. Our puritanical heritage reverberates to this day.

Apple will not buy Disney, no matter how often it hears that it will

The rumor that Apple will buy Disney is old enough to buy an overpriced beer at EPCOT. And, after Disney's Bob Iger appeared at WWDC, it's back yet again, this time with analysts saying the success of Apple Vision Pro depends on it.

The rumor that Apple will buy Disney is as old as the iPod. And, you'd think that analysts would have figured out by now that it isn't going to happen.

Shame Amazon couldn’t keep their end of the deal and actually deliver the goods. Waited in all day and failed to arrive. Tomorrow now apparently.

Not happy at all.

Didn’t Netflix say they will never have ads? Don’t rule Apple out of buying Disney.

Adding ads is nothing like buying a $100 billion company. The Justice Dept, has been after Apple for a while. This would add fuel to the fire.

I suggest you look at cash on hand and short term notes availability with a corporation. This oh its a 3 trillion dollar company is meaningless to outright buying other large companies. See https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/c...e/cash-on-hand

Quote:
Apple cash on hand for the quarter ending March 31, 2023 was $55.872B, a 8.47% increase year-over-year.
Neither is advantageous to the other with combining. Sure they partner when it's in their best interest. While Apple may dabble with entertainment running the Apple TV+ service it's pretty small potatoes in comparison to Disneys representation with entertainment industry and their streaming service Disney plus.

All these streaming hosts will turn to ad-revenue for low end subscriptions as they make as much as broadcast used to do when it could say they had that many viewers watching a particular show.

Netflix is doing fairly well with year by year profits, but they also have a mountain of debt to pay off coming up in so many years of deferred loans come due. Wall Street thinks they will survive that, but it's several billion they owe. So all this whining about ads, getting rid of password sharing is designed for increased profit generation. Call it survival.

I'm watching Justified with Ads $7/Mo it's double that with No Ads. Ads are not bad they are quick. You have to prioritize your Streaming!
