Lamb came across like a well-written parody of earlier A24 horror films. It took the understated effect of earlier A24 movies and carried it to a laughable extreme.

What I like about Talk to Me is that it does not feel like an A24 movie. It is more like a standard American teen horror flick with a punk edge brought to the table.

Lamb was such a letdown. A short film premise, maybe, taken to absurd extremes.

Saw it today and was really impressed!

It was darker than horror films I usually like - I tend to prefer "fun" over "disturbing" - and possession isn't one of my favorite themes, but it was exceptionally well done and truly creepy. Easily the best new fright film I've seen since Last Night In Soho. That particular film is more my speed (and one of my favorites) but there's no denying that this one is a very well-done film. Scary, (the end was especially chilling,) thought-provoking, and miles better than the typical silly Insidious/Conjuring/Megan jump-scare fest, popcorn horror flick. It's gonna stay with me for quite a while!

Why does anyone care if someone reviewed a movie or not?

Anyway, I thought this was quite good. I didn't watch the trailer and I wasn't familiar with the directors so I had idea this was Australian until people started talking. I read a headline that said "the film that's making people faint". It's a fairly creepy movie and that one scene is pretty brutal, but if anyone fainted during this they must've had a medical condition or something.

I was there at 10 in the morning and there were only 4 people in my theater, but for some reason probably 6 or 7 different times different waiters brought trays with food in, looked confused and then left. That has nothing to do with anything, but it was distracting and drove me nuts and I felt like I had to mention it to someone.

Well, normally I wouldn't care but in this case I kinda do because the brothers who made this film cut their teeth on YouTube, Chris Stuckmann cut his teeth on YouTube and now he's branching out into film with Shelby Oaks. It would have been cool to see Chris support them, that's all I'm saying.

Okay, that makes sense. I didn't know the directors were YouTube guys until about an hour ago. I watch a lot of YouTube stuff, but mostly stuff like Good Mythical Morning and Game Grumps, I didn't know about these two. Hope I didn't sound like a dick in my comment, I was just curious.

Nope, you didnt...it was a legitimate question. I just figured I would elaborate more.

Watched this over the weekend with a friend suggesting it, and hadn't seen the trailer so went in blind with no expectations. What i can honestly say is that i actually really hated it. I also watched Insidious: The Red Door and that was very poor, but this was arguably worse imo out of the two.

Talk to Me had an interesting premise with the ability to commune with the dead and so on, but the execution just seemed really bad in terms of the overall story. There's just so many times here where there's

[Show spoiler]a LOT of people recording this person get possessed initially and the freak outs etc. and the girl even experiences the horror first hand, but then when she goes to "Let them in" mode, she's supposed to be in a state of Euphoria and so on. Unfortunately the first time they seemed to show this scene of them doing this crap, they never even bothered to show us that fantasy world high that the person being possessed goes into, and all we see is the physical possession of the body and the persons eyes bulging out their head with big black eyes, voice etc.

It makes you wonder how people can see such a thing and still not understand the type of dark crap they're dealing with, and that's

one of the biggest gripes early on that imo ran through the entire movie. There's no real heft to the actual way they set things up. I feel like a well done horror movie usually sets things up appropriately and let's them amp up within almost a set amount of rules the world of the movie operates under.

Think Nightmare on Elm Street as a perfect example imo and this doesn't particularly look low budget, so i give them big credit on the aesthetic look but it's just a really poorly written movie. There's a bunch of key moments that are genuinely nonsense because the movie doesn't bother to establish its "rules" and makes them up as they go along in a way i simply couldn't popcorn logic.

Easily one of the worst movies for me this year i've seen.

I thought the one rule using the hand was conveyed multiple times, stay under 90 seconds and you'll be ok...go over and you're screwed.

The most unrealistic part of this movie was

[Show spoiler]the dad not only surviving being stabbed in the jugular and losing who knows how much blood over the course of time it took for Jade to get an ambulance to him, but also him just walking out the hospital seemingly just a few hours later.

It was fine but there seemed to be a lot of excitement and praise for it. What I felt after was that it was just a basic horror movie aping to be like an A24 film or Hereditary.

I also found that it was breaking its own rules or at least made some things confusing. People tend to rip on It Follows about its rules but that's one I don't mind when people complain about. It's fantastic and I feel like that's the point of its rules.

Also thought it was weird

[Show spoiler]that Sue so easily forgave Mia yet we never see her hug her daughter and forgive her. That scene gave me the impression that it was in Mia's head yet it wasn't if we go by the movie's logic.
