I gotta say before it goes further, I was originally quoting cheez not intending my reply to be directly confrontational. I intended to use his comments as a springboard to joust at a mindset that I think is common in the fans of this kind of material, who are primarily older and male.

I see a lot of overlap here with the reaction, and requests, for 80's franchises like Indiana Jones. Instead of letting these things fade away gracefully- or honoring the character with stories that can speak to more than just a rote retread of the same tropes they enjoyed seeing as kids, they get pandered to and served exactly what they asked for and then are surprised to find the taste off and the dish unpalatable.

That's not the issue with WW84 though.

But my apologies to cheez if I made it seem like I was calling you/him out directly.

It's all good. I didn't take offense, but I did find it odd that all of a sudden WW is just for little girls by some of the members on the forum. That's pretty weird, because if those same members knew WW's actual history, they'd know she wasn't campy or kid friendly. There's that excellent book about her that was made into a movie. The book is called "The Secret History of Wonder Woman." The film that was inspired by that was called "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women."

Honestly, it would be awesome if they kept Gadot around for WW in the Gunnverse, but I doubt that will happen. They do need to recast her properly, though. The suggestions thus far have been awful.

Gadot's WW has always been cool, I just didn't care for WW84.

I’m trying to decide if I agree with this or not. I think I do. Maybe, LOL.

Due to overwhelmingly awful reviews of WW84, I didn’t bother watching it. I’m quite sure it was the right call though and I trust the various reviewers on this movie. As for what people "want", especially us pesky 50 year old males, well, I dunno what we want. Wonder Woman was only a TV show and most of us males only remember Linda Carter spinning around looking lovely.

To me the problem with WW84 is that it followed a refreshingly solid film and really effed everything up badly. What the hell was the plot again? Huh? Who? And Steve Trevor was inhabiting another body? Someone got paid to write this crap? Wow. What we didn’t want was what WW84 gave us. That’s for sure. I hope a new movie simply discards it completely.

As for old franchises in general, it’s hard for them To capture the magic again. But, dredging geriatric versions of classic characters around by some young, modern character isn’t cutting it. I know this statement doesn’t pertain directly to Wonder Woman but it does apply to various other lame attempts of reviving some long dead 80s franchises.

She's good but I still think they can find a closer match to Wonder Woman. Maybe a UFC woman fighter or something who can act on a professional level too.

If they go ahead with Gadot with James Gunn's new DC plan, that's fine but it won't seem fair for everyone else who got cut from their roles.

In the end, it's not a big deal to me as I'm just an okay fan of Wonder Woman. I like her the most in the Super Friends animated 1970s and 1980s shows.

I am huge fan of the UFC and I am not sure who you are even thinking about.

Also, it has nothing to do with fairness. It is a business. If they think Gadot is the the best choice for business they will retain her. If not, she will be gone.

You're probably right. I'm mostly thinking of Wonder Woman from the comics where she's very strongly built, like Chyna from the WWE era. In the end, it's better to go for acting/personality/charm more than physical strength for this role.

And that's true, fairness doesn't matter in business.

Not wanting to jump the (James) Gunn here but won't keeping some of these actors in these roles just create confusion for the general audience when the official reboot starts.

Some might just assume the events of The Flash mixed up the timeline.

Until we know more, the picture this is painting is just confusing.

Why keep Momoa and Gadot if Cavill is out? It seems to be recast Superman and Batman and keep everything else.

James Gunn has built enough good will between his MCU and DC movies/shows, that I completely trust his vision. I'm sure he will clarify the transition before his Superman movie is released.

Why are there two threads on Wonder Woman 3, and how come this one, that was started almost a year before the other one, is the least used? That's like Oreo copying Hydrox and then everyone thinking it was the other way around.
