Super excited for all three!! These look amazing!

Adam, you mentioned trying to get a second Kiyoshi Kurosawa film, did this plan fall through or is the second film coming later on now?

Did I? Maybe you got me confused with talking about DOOR 2
I was talking to the producer of Do Re Mi Fa, but don't think I'd mentioned that anywhere (and I'm still unsure as the film just isn't that good)

Can't wait to check out Door, it looks great.
I would love Shinji Sōmai's 1994 film The Friends on BD. It's definitely my favourite film that he made.

Typhoon Club sounds great. Defo in for that. Door also very intriguing.

In fairness, if you've lived in Japan or bought any Japanese products from the last 60+ years, you'll realise that obis aren't exactly new...
Oh I know they're not new. I really like the style, and obviously they're well suited to Japanese films so I'm happy to see them, the designs are great for all three.
I'm also hopeful you're highlighting the Director's Company because there are more coming from them, maybe The Crazy Family or Mermaid Legend?

unfortunately, many are TOHO, so I'm trying to get the original producers to get the rights off TOHO on my behalf. a complicated process...

What I've read about The Excitement of the Do Re Mi Fa Girl (mainly Hayley Scanlon's write-up) is enough to tempt me into a blind-buy if you were to release it. I wonder if it might do better as a double-bill of early Kurosawa films, alongside Kandagawa Pervert Wars which sounds outré and I'm sure is probably terrible but...maybe hilarious?! I'm assuming Sweet Home is still unreleasable.

I'm hoping beyond hope that Somai's other Directors Company films - which seem to be Luminous Woman, Love Hotel, and Tokyo Heaven - are available to Third Window as well. I've always thought they were owned by big studios but I thought the same about Typhoon Club so...fingers crossed! The new restoration of Luminous Woman looks, well, luminous.

Speaking of Directors Company films, i would love a TWF release of Evil Dead Trap which fixes the subtitle issue of the US Unearthed release.

I’m a little annoyed about this, as my friend has the original negative in his possession and we went to meet the rights holders to sort out the UK rights to then start remastering the original negative, but the rights holders told me they had literally just a few days prior sold the UK rights to another company (i think i know who). So that other UK company will release it on the old master (same one as used in the US) which means the audience will miss out on the new master and i’ll miss out on a title from the Director’s Company which i had access to.

Do you know how long said company has the rights for? You could always consider releasing it after the rights are up.

While that is unfortunate, would there be any real harm in reaching out to the suspected label, and passing on that negative to them? At least customers would benefit from a better transfer, even if it's not from you guys.

I don't think they've released any Japanese films to date, so that would be a first (or rarity at least). It would probably fit best with them, but I would say it's more likely to come from Arrow, or even Radiance.

88 seems like a good bet, hopefully whoever has it can release the third film as well.

If 88 are doing Evil Dead Trap, I'll most likely sell the Unearthed and get the 88 release.

Is there no way TWF & said company could work together on this one? It would be in the interest of both parties especially now we the consumer know a better source could be available to use.

I mean it isn't unheard of for boutique blu companies to work together, 88 and severin have done a few releases together. So hopefully whoever has it is willing to work with TFW to get it looking as nice as possible.
