![]() Quote:
The analysis that Macatouille, Dorian, me and other people are meant to give an idea of how HDR and the wider color gamut is utilized on specific titles which I personally think is very interesting. Random heatmaps with no source or references are practically useless in this thread, especially since they are not even related to any movies. |

A Clockwork Orange (HDR10, 4000 nits white/0.005 nits black)
MaxCLL: 2553 nits MaxFALL: 195 nits Pretty bright disc but man is it a lot better than the old Blu-Ray. Had to leave out some good screenhots due to their explicit nature however haha. The Green Mile (HDR10 @ 4000 nits white/0.005 nits black, MaxCLL: 1114 nits, MaxFALL: 109 nits)
Warner hit the nail on the head with this one. Averages are very good while peaks have stunning effect. This is very evident in the scenes with the electric chair as they are much more dramatic than in SDR. I would be interested in seeing the heat maps of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Especially the chase scene in the beginning has some of the brightest HDR I have seen. For those who have seen the movie probably know what Im referring to.

Thriller: A Cruel Picture (HDR10, 1000 nits white/0.0001 nits black)
I feel like the averages are simply too high this time, subjectively speaking. It always being so bright makes the film look very constrained, like it's pushed beyond its limit. Colors are wonderful however. This film was shot in my hometown (Ekerö, West Stockholm) to a big extent. Don't think I'll see much more from out here in 4K HDR anytime soon... Quiddich World Cup opening speech and the graveyard scene at the end of Goblet of Fire also. Be interesting to see what's going on in those scenes as most TV's seem to screw em up (at least compared to the DV grade on streaming services).
