The more I think about it the more I like the idea of a complete reboot. Keep the core tenets of the franchise, Ghostface, phone calls, murder mystery/whodunnit etc and then change the formula and tone a bit.

Something in the style of Bodies Bodies Bodies but with a Ghostface killer in the mix could work well in my opinion. Either way, the franchise really needs a new coat of paint so to speak.

I wouldn’t HATE if the Core Four didn’t come back but I know they are a big draw with the new fans. I’d still want Sid and Gale though.

If they bring Sid back, then Mark needs to come along. Dude was a cop for Pete sake, what's he doin staying home with the kids and not getting in on the action?

Otherwise, the ensemble does need to slim down, that means no Sid, an early Gale death, and at least two of the returning newer cast members.

Yeah they have to do some thing otherwise this is going to be the least mysterious Scream movie we have ever had. With a large returning cast we will only have like 2-3 suspects.

That’s why I think they can get rid of Tara and have her away at college. Realistically Jenna Ortega is just WAY too busy and could probably barely squeeze in a cameo since she’s filming Wednesday for at least six months (whenever the strikes resolve). I don’t think they want to wait for her that long (and they could always bring her back in the inevitable sequel). Chad could be away with her at college too. And they don’t need to bring Kirby back. Now we have Sid, Gale, Sam, Danny and Mindy - much more manageable returning cast.

Only thing is, what story reason would Sid have to being involved? The newer movies pretty much make it clear that it really isn't about the legacy characters anymore. Killerwise, she's old news. There'd have to be a good logical reason for her to be back, especially when she sat it out in S6. It has to make sense. Gale always makes sense, because she's a dog chasing an ambulance. As Tara said "without Ghostface, she'd fade away".

Also with Tara, if the next one involves their family, then Jenna will have to be in it. It would be a huge narrative disservice.

I really don't forsee this as going on any longer than 7, maybe 8. There aren't any cinematic tropes to cover except maybe a jab at Hollywood for not letting franchises be

Well selfishly I want Sid in this no matter what just because I love her so much as a character. And as far as Tara goes I know narratively it makes sense for her to be involved, but logistically Jenna’s schedule is a nightmare and I know Paramount wants to film this ASAP.

What I mean is, depending on what their plan is for S7, Tara could be opted out and saved for S8, or she'll be vital to the story of S7. If it's the latter, then she can work around Wednesday Addams. It's just time management. Ya gotta think, alot of these actors from the earlier Screams had TV gigs simultaneously, Courtney Cox for example. Ya just make it happen and work your butt off.

Very true, I definitely think they will do everything in their power to have Jenna in this, even if it’s a smaller role they know she’s a HUGE draw to the younger teens now.

Of course. I just have a feeling that the story is going to open that proverbial can of worms about their family and connections to Billy and the turmoil it's caused. It's been talked about in 5 and 6, so 7 would probably be the time to flesh it all out.

The 5th and 6th films may have been a hit, but I didn't think either was good. I thought Happy Death Day was great so I'm okay with Christopher Landon as director. It wasn't really a scary movie though. Hopefully he brings in some new writers as well.

Scream 6 was especially bad in my opinion. I think the series needed a new director, but I think it also needs new writers as well. The last two films were written by James Vanderbilt and Gary Busick. Vanderbilt wrote David Fincher's Zodiac and I don't know where the hell the talent he had when he wrote that went because since then he's wrote Independence Day 2, Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 and Murder Mystery.

I’d love to see Landon bring in Rothe and/or Kathryn Newton for Scream VII.

‘Scream’ Creator Says Pay Neve Campbell: ‘I Would Give Her the Money’ So She Can Return to the Franchise

”I know exactly where she’s coming from,” Williamson said on the podcast when asked about Campbell’s exit from the franchise. “I know her well. I love and adore her, and that’s what she did and it’s great for her. I love everyone involved with ‘Scream’ and all I can say is pay her the money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. That’s what I would do. I would give her the money.

Melissa Barrera was quietly let go from Scream VII, multiple sources confirmed to One Take News. Her exit comes following controversial statements amid the Israel-Palestine crisis.
Controversial in that she's pro-palestine so yeah.........Paramount you idiots.

While she's not the best part of the new Scream movies, writing her out is gonna be pretty bad, no matter how they do it. The movie's plot/setup will absolutely suffer from this.

Looks like Neve Campbell just got a windfall. They'll either have to re-reboot or re-focus back on her.

Interestingly, the article originally stated this story was first reported by Variety — although I was unable to find such an article — and now that mention has been deleted…
