Nobody seems to have mentioned this. Shame it's not 4k but it's a nice steelbook.

That is really nice. Definitely would have purchased if they did a 4K.

Warner has to be doing a 4K of this movie, its 50th anniversary is this month. If not, what a waste, awesome movie way ahead of its time.

Will only buy this if its a updated master and not the same Warner Bros pressing from the 2013 release. Releasing The Exorcist in 4K and not this as well? What is Warner thinking. Both 50th Anniversaries this year. Still holding out for a 4K announcement.

I’m with you guys regarding this title deserving a 4k release. However, I’m such a big fan of this that I’ll get this HMV release one way or another.

I like this, and how they do Futureworld also.

But they need to stop giving exclusives to places that don't do worldwide shipping.

If some mom and pop can find a way to send a package overseas, these businesses can to. If they can afford to get exclusive rights, they can afford to ship them. Simple as.

I disagree. It's an exclusive to them for their market.

I can just imagine the uproar if U.S. exclusives at Best Buy were available to overseas buyers. Or if Amazon got the U.S. exclusives. People already complain about missing out on U.S. exclusives from U.S. retailers here.

Marvel and Disney SteelBooks are no longer released in Canada, Australia and parts of Asia.

Most catalogue SteelBook titles from Best Buy USA aren't released in Canada.

U.S. SteelBooks are often full gloss compared to some spot gloss or matte SteelBooks for the same titles in Europe (Marvel/Disney, Paramount).

If folks in Europe and Canada could order from Best Buy then some would and that means a lot more buyers here would miss out.

Did you really expect anything different? 99% of non Dutch releases have no Dutch subs

That's an interesting interpretation, and one I've never heard applied to exclusives in a retail setting.

From who? Most people here would be quite happy to not have to jump through the excessive hoops to get their steels. Less barriers to product means more buyers. If anything, it would mean more steels being made, as wider market=more buyers=more demand=more product being made. Another benefit is the whole "which steel is better" plays out in real time, and the QA for steels in terms of their design, shipping, and customer service improves across the board as worldwide competition forces everyone to up their game.

That's a distributor issue, at least for the aussies and asia, and while I have no doubt that's related to some boneheaded decision from the mouse hq, it doesn't make my point any less valid.

Depending on the steel and the buyer, the opinion on that varies. Not sure what that even has to do with the subject we're discussing.

I addressed that already with the more buyers/more supply above. Wider access and competition is better for everyone.

I wonder if a Warner 4K would include the 10 minutes or so supposedly excised from the film to obtain a PG rating in the U.S., since I don't recall the 2013 BD including any deleted footage. That would be an enormous draw for me in and of itself, not to mention a proper 4K restoration!

The new steelbook is available at half the price of the cine edition from some European markets. Still a missed opportunity by Warners and yet more re-packaging of old discs.

50 years old and we still get recycled discs. I want a brand new restoration, only then I'll bite.

Now you have something to watch while you eat your recycled food.

Remember "eat recycled food: it's good for the environment and ok for you."
