Night of the Creeps, at least, should be considered a surefire hit and guaranteed future 4K by default. I'm surprised it still hasn't been reissued. Maybe Sony have their own plans for that one but it's not looking good for this year. I guess they could do a come-from-behind release for Halloween but you'd think they'd want to promote this one in advance.

SF has two Hammer films that have 4K scans, The Evil of Frankenstein (1964) and Curse of the Werewolf (1961). They're both Universal films, and were previously released as Collector's Editions. I would say it's about time that a Hammer film got a UHD release.

With regard to that last point, MGM and Universal are definitely the most obliging. With Warner Bros, so far we've only seen an upgrade of Creepshow, which makes sense given that SF's previous release was from a 4K scan of the OCN. This wasn't the case with too many of the WB-licenced Collector's Editions, so it could be that 4K upgrades are slower, or perhaps even not forthcoming at all. In the Mouth of Madness was one of those '4K scan of the original film elements' descriptions, so it may be that they haven't yet accessed the negative for that. Similarly, MBV was already given a 4K scan from the OCN for the previous release, which wasn't always the case with previous Paramount releases (for example, Pet Sematary 2 received a new scan, while Silver Bullet was based on an older master).

Sony are particularly difficult, since they scan/restore titles themselves, and don't allow outside restorations, so SF either have to wait or hope the 4K master is already available (as was the case with The Blob; I don't know about Night of the Creeps; I doubt it, since I think that master goes back to the 2009 Blu-ray/DVD release).
Interesting, I'll still hold out hope they'll come out before too long! lol.

Yeah, I just e-mailed them a few days ago. I know they wouldn't confirm release dates to random people, but if they were coming out soon, they probably wouldn't flat out deny they were working on them.

They might. I'll just say, I have reason to believe one of them may be coming to 4K by the end of the year. I don't have enough to go on now, so I won't really mention it until I find more to corroborate it.

Also The Vampire Lovers, it is surprising that we're not seeing Hammer films on the new format yet.

I thought Sony will take requests but the label has to pay for the scan.

Lets hope so! So what's up with the Psycho sequels? I know Arrow is putting them out in the UK, but what's likely for a US release? Scream putting them out soon? Someone else, or no idea?

I know that they are several steps below the fantastic original film, but I'd still like to see Scream Factory (or someone) release Pumpkin Head 3 and 4 in order to complete the collection in HD. With the October arrival of the original film in 4k, I feel like dropping part 3 and 4 on Blu Ray in November or early 2024 would be great.

I mentioned this over in the Terror Vision thread, but with the passing of Paul Reubens it reminded me that we don't have the Tripper on Blu-ray in the US. It's one of my favorite modern slashers, and Reubens is really great in it. It looks like the distribution rights Fox had for it, are done, so not sure where the rights are at now.

people think too hard about this.

if a title sells a ton, they will most likely release a 4K. if they don’t think a title will sell, it will probably be a site exclusive.

but also, when you email customer service, you’re not talking to someone who makes those decisions. it’s not like cliff is answering the emails.

I think it's pretty easy to figure out at this point. All their collectors editions will receive a UHD at some point if they still have the rights to said film.

It would be nice if the one detail they gave us for preorders was the source. I'd like to know if Pumpkinhead 4k will be from the OCN or if it will the IP again. I feel that the IP is too hit or miss.
On one of my first boutique purchases I ended up falling for was the Platoon release: "From A Brand-New 4K Restoration, Approved By Oliver Stone". I'd rather settle for an abused VHS copy than that abomination.
Just a little more details before I drop ~$40 on what ultimately becomes a quadruple dip

I have no interest in a 4K of Night of the Living Dead remake but if VS does indeed have it, you can bet it will be a good transfer and a scratch free disc.

Is ‘Terror Train (1980)’ in 4K from the OCN a possibility? Or does someone else have that now?
