Did the lack of Li Bingbing in Meg 2 hurt its box office?

the success of the meg was a fluke. i don’t know why they could repeat it.

Yet it seems they are. Most of the first movie's success came from overseas and it seems to be doing around the same again, so i'm not sure how it was a fluke. There's a demand for monster movies, most of them are much more popular internationally than in North America, which is why they keep on making more. There's a clear pattern that has been established for close to a decade now for these kind of movies.

we had this discussion the first time when the first movie came out. the meg is a terrible movie, regardless of how much money it made. the novelty has worn off and that is why is not as successful here for the sequel.

if your standards are low, you should have no problem finding lots of shark movies on tubi. or direct to video garbage on streaming. because they will always keep making them.

You're the one who said the first movie's success was a fluke, all I said was that it can't be a fluke if the second one is literally pulling in the same numbers internationally. If you had the exact same conversation when the first one came out, that means you were literally wrong twice, why would you double down on it?

Also, I found the second movie absolutely terrible but thanks for passing judgement so quickly on others?

Anyway, we're talking about trivial stuff here (the box office of giant shark movies afterall), i'm not quite sure why you are taking this so seriously.

Posters like that are best ignored imo, they always seem miserable and angry and are very quick to insult others. Not exactly a winning combination for a healthy discussion.

Here's your fluke:

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt4779682/

It made a ton of money. was a Chinese co-production featuring popular Chinese actors.

The same with Meg 2 and now Wu Jing is in part 2. Yes, this will make a ton of money overseas, as well.
