United Kingdom Father Brown (Mark Williams)

Dazzler Media have been dutifully releasing the new Father Brown series since May 2014 on Blu-ray.

Just ordered Series One for myself. I never saw the Kenneth More version (which is sadly only on DVD), but this new one has excellent reviews, and indeed, it must be soaringly popular to get a BD release. Series Two has been out from June, and there is even a pre-order for Series Three already.

Any other takers?

Caught some of this a while back. Not my cup of tea to be honest - just another average daytime drama. The opening credits are pretty poorly done too.
But if you like this sort of show, I think you'll probably enjoy it (had no idea it was so popular though; thought it got cancelled)

Somebody must be watching over there, because:

And it's only just come to the States, apparently. The first series will be out (on DVD only) on September 16th here.

I second that! I don't know why they made Lark Rise 1-3 on Blu-ray only to leave the last season on DVD only.

I purchased the first series on Blu-ray. What a disappointment! Not sure how to describe the issue, but the in-motion video has some lines that show up. Maybe the video is interlaced vs. progressive? Again, not sure how to describe it, but it is really distracting. I would have purchased the rest of the series, but now, I highly doubt it.

My copy is fine. Maybe you need to update your firmware.

They are UK Blurays of a UK series so they are 50hz and 1080i which can give problems on standard US gear. (the small print on the back cover should confirm this IIRC)
Earlier post from 2014 mentioned disappointment about the Kenneth More series only being on dvd but as it was made on videotape there would be no point in a Bluray release at all.

The Xmas special was on last week and the last 9 episodes of series 6 begin on Tuesday and show daily.
But this time, rather than buy the Blurays as I did with the first 5 series all in one go earlier this year I'm recording them on my Bluray recorder so no 5.1 sound but a good saving

Think there is an Amazon UK pre-order listing for the ninth series (it starts in the UK on BBC One next Monday afternoon).

Not sure why it's coming so late after season 10 releases and it's hardly complete of course as at least 1 more series is coming.

As you say is now at the life stage of the show this is pretty pointless.

Only worth doing when the show has been cancelled and you know that's it in terms of no new episodes.

Yeah, one of the things I hate about owning a series, buying them in series volumes, I'll always try and wait til its finished and can get a complete set, even if i miss a lot of episodes from TV. Also, with series volumes, they sometimes release some of the series in one style of packaging, then the next batch is different. I find that annoying.

As for the series itself, I've only caught a few episodes, but have enjoyed them, even tho there are a plethora of "quirky" TV crime shows, which I usually avoid like the plague, but now and then one comes along I catch an episode of, and which appeals to me in someway. Last one was Foyle's War.

Felt screwed over like that with the BBC's Line of Duty. When it came out it was sold that was it and the complete boxset would be all episodes, but they have said they will now make another series, will be a few years wait before they can schedule with cast and crew.

Another thing I find interesting is that the 1-8 set is £50 and the 1-10 is an extra £60 for only 2 extra series.
