Default Blu-ray only movies now also in HD-DVD format

Apologies if this has been posted already but:

"As we all know Paramount and Dreamworks has decided to jump (exclusively) into the HD-DVD wagon, and it looks like it's not an isolated case. There's a noticeable outcropping of HD-DVD releases of movies supposed to be exclusive to Blu-ray, and some of them are even from Sony Pictures.

Among many other titles, Underworld: Evolution as well as XXX from Sony Pictures have been spotted under the HD-DVD banner. As for movies from other Blu-ray exclusive studios, Disney's Reign of Fire and The Prestige was also found with the HD-DVD logo printed over their titles.

The strangest thing? There seems to be HD-DVD movies from almost every Blu-ray exclusive studios.

Why is it so? Audioholics supposes that the high cost of producing Blu-ray discs is causing the studios to jump into the HD-DVD wagon from time to time. The fact that HD-DVD is region-free may also be another reason as well."

True, it goes the same way, there are movies on HDDVD only that you can get on BD in certain countries.

Just check this Canadian site out for anything HD, including Blu-ray and HD DVD imports. In the imported HD DVD section you'll notice many-many US released Blu-ray exclusive titles that have been or will be released in Europe on HD DVD. It's nothing new. Check out the link below:

http://www.hdaddicts.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=89

You'll notice some real fan favorites as well, such as: Basic Instinct, Fantastic 4, The Prestige, Underworld 1 & 2, Mr. And Mrs. Smith, Rambo 1 & 2, Total Recall, Terminator 2, etc.
Shoot, they even have Equilibrium listed there which is one of my all time favorite movies that I'm dying to get for Blu-ray. Since it was released on DVD by Dimension Studios, who knows when it'll show up on Blu.

So you see, sometimes it's really hard not to give in and get a freakin' HD DVD player even just for one movie (like Equilibrium for me), but one has to be patient and wait until HD DVD folds.

The Weinstein Company is heavly rumored to go neutral within the next few months. Representitives from the company were openly talking about a Blu-ray release of Grindhouse at Comicon, so that seems to be a nice little confirmation.

You are right. Equilibrium is an awesome movie. That with transformers, bourne tirlogy, matirx, etc. will most likely make me get an HD DVD player by xmas. I think the intent that Paramount and hd dvd had might be working, get some critical movies to any collection out exclusivly to hd dvd and some inexpensive hd dvd players out and sales should pick up.

This is ironic. I know I just posted the hdaddicts.com link where they have Equilibrium as a Japanese HD DVD import, but I just noticed that they renamed the movie Rebellion for the Japanese market. That's funny. I guess Equilibrium was a bit hard to pronounce in Japan. LOL
