I will wait for reviews before ordering it unless there is exclusive extra I need as I already got the French release

I have the Mondo BD and the LCQF UHD, but still mean to pick up the Umbrella UHD as I really wanted a copy of the butchered US cut. I think I read that Second Sight's UHD release will also have it, but I'd bet it's a locked B disc.

Will be interesting to see what happens but I wouldn't be surprised if umbrella uses the lcqf resto. Might be able to make up some of those multibuys by selling that disc if it does turn out to be the same

I'd probably keep the Mondo BD as I own all of the box sets dating back to the original DVD ones.

If the LCQF ends up being a different grading than the rest, I'd keep that as well.

I own the super deluxe whatever LCQF because the cheaper sets sold out earlier.

I would just be very surprised if umbrella got something different than the lcqf because that seems to be the official 4K resto and that's basically what umbrella said they were going to use.

Whether compression is the same is a different story.

Second sight sounds like they're going to do something different so that one may look different than the others.

I sold most of those box sets because I figured at some point in the future there'd be something better than a DVD which most of them are. I don't group films by director either so the conformity really makes no difference

I'll keep my LCQF release regardless just because it's a nice set piece on the top of my shelf with Adjani staring at me.

I trust Second Sight on their grading and restoration. I'm guessing it will look different than the current releases but I guess there's room for interpretation with this release and people are probably never going to be truly satisfied. I love the LCQF release outside of the forced subtitles (you can hide them if your player supports it) and some print damage but I've loved every Second Sight release and know it should be just as good if not better and will be more English friendly.

The next-level psychosis in this film is so lofty and off-the-chain, it's practically suffocating. Makes The Shining look like a weak warm-up round.

Phenomenally delicious. Not many films make you want to eat broken glass while it's playing, and still feel compelled to watch it again soon after. Then again, there aren't a lot of sci-fi slasher romances out there either, so, not much to compare it to.

I have the strange, suspicious feeling this is what Brad and Angelina went through behind closed doors whenever the meds ran out....

I agree with everything else in your post but this, sir, is a bridge too far.

I’ll reconsider the notion if they find cut footage of Jack Torrance having
[Show spoiler]five straight minutes of brutal spine-wracking paroxysms and then squatting down and having an on-screen bucket-gushing alien miscarriage whilst oozing several liters of green slime and bloody muck out of his neck and both ears
. It’s also noteworthy that Jack was essentially the only cracked egg in the Shining, whereas just about every single unsavory character in Possession is as warped and twisted as a pile of melted twizzlers run over by a Mack truck on a stretch of Arizona blacktop in August.

The bridge is pretty close and the heads are floating just above it. Extreme false advertising if I ever sawed it. Awful.

Umbrella added some more detail i dont think was on the original listing, confirmed BD100 for the UHD disc.

It will probably be the exact same encode as the LCQF disc (also BD100), just with more english-friendly presentation.

Umbrella version just arrived, hopefully this helps with the questions about the restoration:

TFI STUDIO présente

Possession (1981) Un film d'Andrzej Żuławski
Restauré en 4K
à partir du négatif image original
Travaux numériques et photochimiques réalisés et supervisés par Le Chat Qui Fume, 2020
