Less than 30 days into owning this player and on a few occasions it has randomly turned off in the middle of a movie. Did some research and thought it could be related to it trying to connect to BD-Live so I disabled that and disconnected it from the Internet. Still happened once more.
Sound like a faulty player or is there something else that could be happening? I could exchange it for a new unit still |

Does anyone have any experience with the UB9000 disc tray not opening? I’d like to avoid the cost of sending it back to 220 Electronics but I’m also concerned I may lose the region free coding if I take it to a local repair shop, depending on what needs to be fixed. I’ve already trouble shot with the tech guy at 220. Any suggestions, experience?

I would go ahead and exchange it.

There may be but I wouldn’t be able to diagnose that on my own. The tech guy at 220 had me enter some code on the remote, some type of reset I suppose and when the tray still wouldn’t open he said he would need to open it up. Despite the cost to ship it (player weighs 17lb.) I’m sending it for repair to 220. Hopefully the cost will be justified by the peace of mind that it will be fixed properly.

^ Were you able to get the disc out? I had this happen on the 420 and there's a tiny white latch underneath you can slide with a paperclip to eject the tray. The instructions are detailed somewhere in this thread.
EDIT: See posts #12211 and #12214 in this thread for video and instructions on how to do this. Last edited by HorrorBlu; 08-15-2023 at 05:27 PM. |

There wasn’t a disc in the player and I didn’t take notice to anything like that on mine. What happened with yours, did it need to be repaired?

The latch can be pretty difficult to spot, I needed a flashlight. It should be there though. For me, simply sliding the latch didn't eject the tray. However, once I hooked it back up and pushed eject, it ejected just fine. Worked fine for about ten uses or so and happened again. Same trick worked. Hasn't happened since. However, when this was happening, I was using my 4K player for every disc I watched. I ended up hooking up an old blu-ray player to the same TV, and use that for DVDs and most blu-rays now. I think easing the burden of playing everything on the 4K player may have helped? |

It makes a lot of sense to use a regular BD player to share the workload especially if you already have one lying around. I use an old Sony S370 for that purpose and it also has the benefit of being able to play SACD's which none of my 4K players can handle.

Are you able to go into Service Mode and check the Self-Diagnosis Display to see if there were any errors? Also, how long were you running the unit for (Laser Used Time Display)? My unit has no errors and here are my stats. BD: 490 DP: 31 CD: 0 ![]() ![]() Last edited by Sango; 08-16-2023 at 05:28 PM. |

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but is there a way to enable TV-led Dolby Vision on Panasonic players?

Silly question, I think I have this right, if I’m watching an HDR10 4K disc (say Avatar The Way of Water) and have HDR Optimiser turned on I’m assuming I should turn off dynamic tone mapping on my LG OLED? Because it’s already being tone mapped by the player?

The Panasonic one should be better since it retains the APL. Last edited by Sango; 08-18-2023 at 02:32 AM. |
