Because of The Slap I think Chris Rock will outlast them all. He should thank Will Smith.

If I'm wrong I apologize for wasting space, but I kept thinking I'd seen something on Facebook about a future release of TWO PEOPLE.

---------------------

Here's a short-ish list of movies I've never seen available on any homevideo format in case K-L is looking for an extra title or two to release. I think a few of these can be ~streamed~ . . . but no 'physical media' release ever.

TRACK OF THUNDER (1967-Race Car Action Drama)* [See 'Attachment'] United Artists. Technicolor/Techniscope. "Punch It . . . And GO!"

FEVER HEAT (1968-Race Car Action Drama)* [See 'Attachment']. A Paramount Release. Technicolor/Techniscope. Star NICK ADAMS died the year this was released. He was 36. ♠ "Spills, Chills and Heart-to-Heart Collision!"

HELL WITH HEROES, The (1968-War) a Universal Picture.
RIVERRUN (1970-Drama) Think this is a Columbia film.
FAN'S NOTES, A (1972-Canadian) w/Jerry Orbach.
CRAZY WORLD OF JULIUS VROODER, The (1974) T. Bottoms, B. Hershey.

CONVENTION GIRLS (1978) I bought a poster for this movie. The director, Joseph Adler, died in 2020 in Florida at age 79. There was an extant print in 2010.

SUMMER RUN (1973) (AKA: "Harry", "The Backpack Girls"*) [See attachment for re-title poster as "Backpack Girls" -- this movie ran the drive-in circuit for a few years before it disappeared . . . ).

TOWING (1978-Comedy)* (AKA: "Who Stole My Wheels?"; "Fun Girls"). [See poster attachment].

SURFER GIRLS (1978-Comedy). * [Poster Attachment]. Looks very educational.

BLEEP (1971) This movie could be Lost. JoAnn Harris stars.
ARNOLD'S WRECKING CO. (1973) It's about weed; an early '70s 'Period Piece'.
DID BABY SHOOT HER SUGARDADDY? (1972) Well did she? I dunno yet!

TWO PEOPLE (1973) was cancelled because something was wrong with the print.

That was fun! I've seen a lot of people post that they would like to see that film on Blu-ray. Raul Julia was a good man. Friendly, and willing to do about anything to get a shot right.
It was made for HBO, so I guess it is in Warner Bros hands, but I don't know.

I was hoping Kino would announce an October date for their upcoming Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) 4K title. But I guess it's too late for a Halloween date this year. (Of course I'd take it any month.)

The review for Outrage (1950) just went up, and I think Svet might have done a copy/paste job of his Imprint review instead of actually reviewing Kino's new release. He says Kino's release features the Alexandra Heller-Nicholas commentary from the Imprint disc, but Kino clearly states its release has a new commentary from Imogen Sara Smith.

Can anyone clear this up?

How low do Kino 4Ks typically get discounted to during their sales? Looking to purchase Needful Things but don't really wanna pay $28. I also want the cool slip that comes with it.

Attention: BOB HOPE fans!!! I know you're out there, buying Kino's releases just like me.

Listen folks, I wanna tell ya...

I'm hijacking this thread to alert you that Turner Classic Movies, TCM, will be featuring 24 hours of Bob Hope movies Thursday, August 17, from 6:00 a.m. onwards! The usual Road movies, as well as other titles available from Kino, will be featured, but there are also scheduled a couple of titles that, AFAIK, are stuck on DVD, like a Princess and the Pirate, and A Global Affair (which I've never seen!)

And it looks like Friday is Carole Lombard day as well...

I now return this thread to its regularly scheduled programming...

The last two (maybe three?) sales the 4Ks have been $17.99. Kino's site is still showing the slip for it, but that could change before the next sale.

Kino also tested the waters with some earlier 4K sales prices at $14.99 with the more recent sales being higher as Torgon pointed out. Ultimately, if that slip is important to you then don't sit too long.

$14.99 to $17.99 for a 4K is a damn good deal - it's at least ten bucks less than regular everyday price. But, yes, that slip is nice so I may just have to bite da bullet.

If Kino ever does a deal with Gaumont, this would be on my wish list.

I have no idea how commercially viable this would be. The film is forgotten, but it's from the days of 70mm epics, there aren't many films about the American Revolution, and it features Orson Wells as Ben Franklin. There's French blu-ray, but it's not English friendly.

Groucho, come back and let me know what you think of A GLOBAL AFFAIR. I first saw it a couple of years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I know it has a low reputation. I picked up the WAC MOD DVD-r on it because I can't see it making the leap to Blu. It has a lot of beautiful women in it and I think it's a nice part for Hope and a real propaganda piece for the United Nations. Anyway, I recommend the picture.

Maybe our own Lombard expert "The Balcony Fool" can chime in with some recommendations for Friday's Carole lineup.

It only includes the commentary from Imogen Sarah Smith and trailers. That's it.

HELL WITH HEROES, The (1968-War) a Universal Picture.
This title was actually announced last year and is listed as Coming Soon on HTF so probably will be a 2024 release. It is one of the few remaining 'Studio Classic' titles yet-to-be-released along with The Looters, Has Anybody Seen My Gal, You Never Can Tell and, of course, the much-requested Paint Your Wagon as well as a few classic 3-D titles. As has been mentioned on another forum, this year KL seems to have shifted focus to newer movies, re-releases and titles that are deemed suitable for 4KUHD format.

Damn. I may have to invest in this new line. All of them. But who knows what will be coming…besides myself.
It was originally the 4K release of UNDERWORLD (Transmutations), but since that released was delayed again, we decided to go with another title.
