Yes, I forgot to mention I had no Tax on my order.

I don't buy any anime from Amazon if I can absolutely avoid it, unless it is just a standard Blu-ray release without a slipcover. Anything beyond that is just begging to arrive damaged.

With Amazon not getting titles to me on release date and being like $30 more expensive, I'm gonna go with Bullmoose! It seems like the members here have had good experiences with them so I'll give them a shot!

They're probably going to have the Amazon Prime redubs which I'm interested in also having even though they're not as good, gives more ways to experience Evangelion.
On a recent rewatch, the Amazon dub has started to grow on me. Having Amanda Winn-Lee back as Rei (no offense to Brina Palencia, who also did a great job) just feels right. I do miss Trina Nishimura as Mari (Daneen Melody's fine but Trina gave 110%) and Allison Keith-Shipp's voice is starting to get rough (which actually accentuates post-time jump Misato inadvertently) but I do feel a lot of the performances are actually better, translation issues notwithstanding.

Honestly, I think 3.0+1.0’s dub is the best of the Prime Rebuild dubs, probably because they spent the most time and effort on it (it was actually recorded first). Aside from the grunts and screams not being dubbed (blame Dubbing Brothers USA for that, not Khara or Prime), it sounded very solid, and had outstanding performances across the board. Their 1-3 is a mixed bag. The 1.11 dub sounds less polished than FUNimation’s (even the sound mixing), and Allison Keith sounds particularly rough, but for some reason it gets better as the film goes along. 2.22 was a slight improvement from 1.11, even if it lacked the more polished sound and memorable script of FUNi’s. 3.33 is honestly about about on par with FUNi’s IMO, in part because FUNi was also working with Khara’s meddling, and both had a similar bland script.

I do think they’re worth watching for Amanda Winn Lee as Rei though, as much as I enjoy Brina. It gives the series some consistency that was missing. I can take or leave the other reprisals, but they were a nice touch. It was a shame we lost Trina as Mari (and Colleen Clinkenbeard as the BEST Ritsuko), but Deneen is fine.

Yeah fully agree there, she’s really missed. Also, they got the worst Fuyutski back (his End of Eva performance is unbelievably flat) but I actually liked him in this time around and his voice is distinctive from Gendo’s, unlike in the Funimation dub.

Ok, that price at Bullmoose plus finding out that only the 4K has the IMAX scenes pushed me over the edge. I preordered.

There are no "IMAX scenes" that are what many would expect (opened up), simply because that never existed to begin with. The "IMAX Certified" branding an uninformed user seems to be spreading around the forums in general without understanding it means nothing in this case, specifically (no opened up shots, no DTS:X audio). The film was always composed for 2.39:1 scope, and thus is presented as such.

Cancelled my CE order with RightStuf and went with Bullmoose, that $15 savings makes it more palatable.

I went the DIY route and muxed the japanese bluray video with the amazon dub (seeing as it's 640 kbs dd+ 5.1) it's quite good. I was cringing when I had to watch it subbed at the theater. It lacks the impact it had the first time when rewatching it.

Did you also raise the speed of the audio? The Amazon video was 24FPS compared to the JPBD's 23.976.
If not, it'll be out of sync in certain scenes.

It’s bizarre because she was my favorite voice in the TV series dub and she was also fantastic in the original Rebuild dubs. And she does sound decent in most of the Prime dubs, but for some reason she’s phoning it in in 1.11. It’s distractingly bad. She’s always sounded scratchy, but there she sounded straight-up laryngitic. It makes me wonder if she really was ill or something.

I know Joe Fria mentioned that there was a bad snowstorm in Houston during recording, and everyone lost power, which made it difficult to reach Allison and John Swasey. I wonder if they were so time-crunched, they really did record the films in 1-2 sessions each.

The IMAX Enhanced blurb means something here, as the film went through IMAX DMR (IMAX Digital Media Remastering). Not sure how it would enhance the film, as the film looks really sharp and clean already. And IMAX DMR would just ruin it with too much DNR and sharpening. But since IMAX DMR is most definitely a manual process, I guess it has little to no impact unlike most IMAX DMR prints.
The film will only have 5.1 audio and be in CinemaScope with no open matte scenes.

Off Topic Sorta but; I Figured someone would Appreciate these. I Got them in a Lot off EBay from a Guy for around $120 2-3 Years Ago, Still a prized part of my Collection. I'd like to get the ADV Films LDs at some point even if they didn't finish the whole series on that format. (Had to post a Link to the Image bc it was not showing up on the post for some reason)

I wouldn't waste money on the ADV LDs. They are rotters. I needed them for a project I was working on and had to buy two volume twos before I got a working one.

For collector purposes; they are just expensive! The VHS movies are also stupidly expensive.

Fair, But For me if i ever get them for a good price, They will be Soley for Display Purposes. I'm very much aware how Notorious they are to Laser Rot so I don't intend on watching them at all; Besides they have already been preserved so if i wanted to watch the LD Transfer that bad i could.

If you can get them for a fair price, that'd be awesome. I'd also recommend the Japanese LDs too, amazing artwork. And for the price of the ADV sets, you can get the complete set too.

Somebody Domeday'ed the ADV discs? That's awesome. All I ever saw of them were these crappy encodes of them with ac3 audio instead of using FLAC for the original dub mix.

I managed to get the last 2 Japanese LDs on their own, which had the Video Format Version of The End of Evangelion. I Do plan on Getting the whole set of the JPLDs at some point or another; Also the LD Captures out there were not done with the Domesday Duplicater Unfortunately to my Knowledge and i think were the Captures you Mentioned. I do Wish someone out there would Properly Capture these Discs with the Domesday because those captures weren't that Great. But at least they were Archived, even if the Quality was not the best

The Japanese single releases on Blu-ray are purdy enough for me.

Agreed, I love those Covers. The Sadamoto Art is Great on those, I have the Renewal Singles (Most of them, Just Missing Volume 8) and the Collectors Edition BD with the Art Cards.
