? Not interested, but I haven't heard about that before till now. I didn't know people were able to get illegal copies of digital games working on a PS5 at all if that's true. Doesn't sound like it's worth it IMO.
PS5 Console Absolutely requires a day 1 online update to play disc games: I did want to mention that when PS5 is opened new out of the box, I put in the disc of Miles Morales on launch day in November 2020, and was met with some error message that said "In order to play this game, please update your console", which is the first time I ever had a console that could not function out of the box to play video games. I tried again with a different disc, and the same exact thing. PS5 is a brick when bought from the store new, and absolutely requires a software update of many Gigabytes. For anyone with dial up internet, that must be very frustrating. |

I don’t believe that to be true. I’m not sure how Zivouhr went about it, but there are dedicated YouTube channels out there that test PS5 games offline. I know of at least one where the guy has never connected his ps5 to the internet.

The vast majority of PS5 discs include firmware updates for the console. The PS5 can play most disc games without ever connecting to the internet.
After it's been updated with a game disc the PS5 can also play Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, and DVD. The PS4 required a one time online activation to play Blu-ray and DVD (and couldn't play 4K Blu-ray at all). |

I connected and updated PS5 day 1, and thankfully it let me play discs after that so I could test out my PS4 and PS5 games, but they still didn't solve the extreme slowdown interface issue back then till a week or more later. Since the launch PS5 batches of consoles sold, if they've added the latest patches/updates for PS5 before boxing a new console, then that's great. That's how it should've been at launch, as there could be units out there that still require connecting online to play games. |

I'm sure if you got a PS5 disc that released 2-3 months after the console's initial release, it'd probably have any required update on it. |
