Was that the widescreen release? Shame to hear that the audio's slightly out-of-sync. A label really needs to come along and issue a fully uncut, widescreen, extras-stuffed special edition on Blu-ray. I'll hold it against you if there's not an announcement in the immediate future.

Not on Blu-Ray... but 'The Devils' is apparently available on a streaming-service called 'Shudder' in a 109-Minutes-Unrated-Cut.

Quote:
As the company says in a press release, this is the first time that the 109-minute unrated cut of the film has been available in the U.S. since 1971.

This appears to be the only review of the Aria Blu around. Gets a thumbs up, quality-wise.

It's not the original cut. Shudder is selling false information. It's still missing the 3-minute orgy sequence that caused all the fuss in the first place.

Which, unless I'm wrong, is also missing the same sequence.

I know it's not BD, but maybe someone knows:

Is this new british DVD of 'Lisztomania' just a repack of the old (not so good) british DVD of that film or is it any different? It got released in July 2018.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lisztomania-DVD-Roger-Daltrey/dp/B07DL83X4R/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1533624714&sr=8-1&keywords=lisztomania

'Aria', which features a segment by Ken Russell, will now be released in Germany as well in a '30th Anniversary Edition' on Sept. 28th 2018.

The Rainbow available in Italy (check amazon.it), although the company is named "Pulp Video", at least one member here vouches for the good video quality

I think someday we’ll get it, as it absolutely belongs. It’s a great, rage-filled piece of cinema. There should be a documentary supplement about its history of being censored and suppressed.

"The title which the site will not allow me to write" (even though it's on their news feed), being released by Imprint.

Just bought Imprint's new BD release for Wh*re. It was a first time viewing. I had wanted to see this for years. Definitely not what I expected (which sounds strange to say considering it's a Ken Russell film) but I absolutely loved it. I thought it was going to be more of an erotic drama but it's more of a black comedy. Theresa Russell is mesmerizing. Not just looks wise but her performance as well. Might be her best IMO. Great BD too.

I was really excited to get the new Imprint Blu Ray of Wh0re but then I read this review which has put me off. It's overall positive I suppose but there's a few things that make it sounds like a very compromised release.

Just read the review. Bummer that it's not the fully uncut version. Wonder why. The transfer is dated but I thought it still looked pretty solid.

I'm guessing the surviving print is cut but like that reviewer pointed out they could have included the missing scenes as a supplement as they do exist. The information on the cuts is at the bottom of the DVD Compare page.

I might buy the Blu-Ray one day as it's probably the best we're ever going to get.

BFI edition of Gothic with a hell of a lot of extras including Russell's "home movie" The Fall of the House of Usher and his early short Amelia and the Angel

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33196

Would still like the BFI (or anyone!) to rescue Dance of the Seven Veils, now that it's been a few years since the copyright lock.

The NC-17 version included on the blu-ray is the original theatrical version. So it's not "cut" in terms of "censorship".

The unrated VHS release features one or two extended dialogue scenes, and was created for video stores that won't carry NC-17 rated titles, but would stock unrated titles, so they had to add something in it to make it different than the NC-17 version.

NC-17 or slightly extended unrated version are the go to versions of the movie, while the heavily chopped up R rated version is too be avoided.

I have the Imprint Blu Ray now. Here's some info you might not be aware of:

Quote:
Getting your hands on the Uncut Version of ***** is quite a long shot. Unfortunately, there are three different versions available in the US, all of them on VHS. A DVD hasn't been released so far.

The Versions:

Unrated Version:
Only the Unrated Version is completely uncut. Apparently, it has only been released on VHS (NTSC) in the US.

NC-17 Version:
The NC-17 Version is the second longest version available in the US and probably the most common version worldwide. In the US, this version has been released on VHS as well but also on Laser Disc. Furthermore, this version has also been released in Europe. At least, the Italian and Spanish DVD seem to contain that version. The German is also based on the NC-17 Version but contains additional cuts.

R-Rated Version
Last but not least the R-Rated Version which is also pretty widespread in the US. Based on the NC-17 Version, the R-Rated Version has been released with its original title "*****" and also with the more sellable alternate title "If you can't say it, just see it". It's beyond likely that the alternate title has been made up to offer the movie in malls etc. because a DVD with the word "*****" on the cover is anything but family-friendly. The R-Rated Version is the most censored version available.

Compared are the R-Rated-VHS from Vidmark and the NC-17-VHS from Vidmark.

Watch out: As already mentioned, the R-Rated Version is based on the NC-17 Version. Thus, the R-Rated Version has been compared with the NC-17 Version and not with the Unrated Version. This also means that, in comparison to the longest version (=Unrated), I couldn't any missing scene because some are missing in the NC-17 Version, too. Not mentioned are the differences between the NC-17 Version and the Unrated Version because I made a seperate comparison for this.

There are 34 differences with a total length of 6 minutes and 42 seconds.

30 cuts = 5 minutes und 2 seconds.
4 alternate scenes = 1 minute und 40 seconds.
