Finally got my U.K 4K Steelbook this afternoon. Amazon are getting worse! It’s mint though so I’ll give them that.
Bit miffed that this definitely doesn’t have the commentary as stated on the back cover. Why do they do that? That’s not cricket is it! I wish they’d have included the commentary with this latest U.K release. I’ll have to keep the region A release as I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that. |

I wanted the steelbook, but I see the majority are now on Ebay, and though I love the art direction of Sleepy Hollow, it's not really all that great of a film, which leads me to not care even more. Probably just pick it up for 5 bucks years down the line now. Unless they plan on a restock. I've stopped caring about some of these releases at this point that aren't on my top 100 list or around there. It's not worth the stress and hassle. Especially after that Indie fiasco with Raiders my god I don't want to do that again ever. Last edited by WhiskeyGnome; 09-16-2023 at 05:35 PM. |

In a lot of cases the companies don't think there would be enough demand for a remastered Blu-ray disc in a 4K package and they're probably right. The small percentage of home video consumers who want the very best will have upgraded to 4K and will mostly be buying for the UHD disc. Pressing new remastered Blu-ray discs will cut into profits and if only a niche of a niche are buying a 4K package for a remastered Blu-ray then there won't be much money gained (if any). I could see more UHD releases just scrapping an accompanying Blu-ray (old disc or not) in the future.

Below is a link to the 4K Sheet. This document is actively maintained, and is the one everyone uses when needing info about a 4K code. You can use it to find any info you want regarding whether and how a code will redeem 4K.

Unless they used the entire bitrate for the A/V, there is no ****ing excuse to leave the commentary off the 4K. Lazy ****ers!

For the folks here that don't have a 4k setup like myself, I create my own encodes from the 4k discs using MakeMKV and Vidcoder and stopped asking if the BD is the new 4k scan. I just do it myself. Then I still have the 4k disc for future proof when I do upgrade.

Yes, with Dolby Vision, but no Atmos or extras, and only on Vudu.
Nabbed mine a while back. Sadly, the literal steelbook went too fast for me to get it. So, it will hold me up until hopefully a similar or better release in the future. Maybe Shout! or Arrow might get their hands on it at some point, who knows. |

This isn't one of them though. There's a desire for a remastered BD here that could have been reissued as a standalone BD later on. Paramount are just going default with no actual variation because the people making these decisions aren't necessarily movies fans and certainly not media buyers. And yeah, on another note, audio-extras should always be included on a UHD. They take up very little space compressed with DD. Hell, I even like it when they do include all extras on a UHD. I know that's not always desirable for longer movies and/or masses of extras, but in the right (encoding) hands, it can work just fine. This movie isn't long, as the extras are short. Easy, and even with Paramount's B-team encoders this should be easy. Last edited by oddbox83; 09-17-2023 at 12:48 PM. |

If you can afford 4k uhd releases you should be able to afford a 4k uhd player, which can work with any TV If you just want the Blu for backwards compatibility backup to take to a friend house, a bedroom tv, car, etc, the old Blu should be sufficient for this. A digital code is also provided which has the new transfer for these use cases. Tbh at this point I'm the format I'm fine with no Blu at all |

I wish The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1980) would get a solid physical release. That version is the best version of the story for me + nobody was better than Jeff Goldblum in the role.
