Well, I would post a non-cropped photo but, I’m limited to uploading an image of about 98 KB.
I would need Ice or Deci to somehow allow me to upload of pic of about 625 –650 KB, I figure.
Don’t know if that can be done with my account.

HELP him.

I am sucking up the hype like a teenager. I have cautiously high hopes for this film. Sci-fi done right can be a really good time at the theater.

I’m told that people stood in line for over three hours just to procure a good position for entrance into Hall H on Thursday and once the doors opened, they filled up the hall in about an hour or so.
They need that, but people will fill it anyway. It used to be arriving an hour early for an event was pretty safe. Now you need to start squatting a room 3 hours in advance if you want to make sure you see something. Hall H is an all-day affair. The line you saw was all the soccer moms and fangirls lining up to see the Twilight thing and drool over Angel....I mean Robert Patterson. One yeah when I went, I squatted Hall H all Saturday for 4 different panels (Superman Returns, Serenity, Kevin Smith and the Tenacious D show). It was totally worth it, especially to see the D. I ended up seeeing a bunch of other things I never would have seen otherwise. Like someone asking Jamie Foxx to compare and contrast his characters in Ray and Stealth. The response was priceless and cannot be typed and do it justice

The price hike should do a lot for keeping the casuals out until additions can be made

I think you mean the San Diego Convention Center, which has already been doubled in size once (I don't think there's any more room).

The Civic Center is downtown about a mile or so away.

PS: Lived in SD area for 20 years.

Correct on the name……..I obviously misspoke and meant to type the Convention Center.
Incorrect on the notion of not having any more room, as there is plenty of room on the bay side, in fact while I was down there people mentioned to me that architectural plans have already been submitted for another expansion and now everyone is fighting over who should pay for it.

Give me a sec. and I’ll find a link for you.

I was down there the week before on vacation and cant imagine that many people around their convention center. Hell, their airport is scarry enought to fly into...I always think I'm going to hit a skyscraper on approach!

Don't worry, the gaslamp and the hotels gouge everyone enough it creates extra space

Honestly, does anyone know whether SD has some ordinance against street food in the downtown? As Penton can attest, Philly's downtown is alive with carts that can rival good bistro food (yes, there are the slopwagons too) , and choosing between dropping $20 on something with a vague sense of nutrition (since htey killed the greek food cart) inside, or $20 on something better outside, I'd much rather drop under 10 on lunch. You'd figure if they banned street food they'd keep the damn pedicabs off the street too but noooo

Hey, I’m all for food carts in San Diego as I think it would cut down on this sort of behavior with indoor establishments……….
http://www.motorator.com/videos/104

To any forum members that are planning a vacation to San Diego, might I recommend, (as it’s relatively unknown to tourists but not to locals), the Island Prime restaurant for dinner, as the food is exquisite, the view of the bay is simply fantastic and the prices are very reasonable…………

Or, for an outside dinning experience, they have the adjacent C Level which is also superb but, does not take reservations and begins to fill up as early as 5:00 P.M.

I had lunch there about 6 months ago on business. Great food and even better view!

I'm a big fan of Anthonys, not too expensive, food is good, view is fantastic, and it has a great view of the HMS Suprise from Master and Commander

Too funny...that's where we ate on July 16th after spending the day at the Zoo. We chose the "cheaper" option and ate at the outdoor service counter. The kids enjoyed the deep fried shrimp and my wife and I had crab and shrimp salads...very tasty!

Was in SD in 07 and ate there twice. Loved the food and service. Highly recommended.

Indeed !
Not just of the beautiful bay with its sailboats and such, but also probably the best view of whichever aircraft carrier happens to be in port at the time.

P.S.
Attention George Feltenstein (of WHV), - see bottom right side of http://www.cohnrestaurants.com/restaurants/islandprime/, namely Deborah Scott, who serves as an Executive Chef/Partner, she likewise has two basset hounds and is an animal lover.

Hey, PeterTHX, please answer the man ^ or I’ll consider posting another poll which you may dislike.

Regarding polls, new members and such, I think that this forum has done one of the fastest 1,000 intervals in a long time with going from 69,000 members to the 70,000 mark (almost), as I’m typing this.

Ice, when we hit the 70,000 mark, today or tomorrow?.......I’ll be applying for a headhunter fee from you or, perhaps your procurement of a Swedish masseuse for a week……for me – or else, increase my picture posting capacity (KB)!

I don’t see Amir wearing his “Science Fiction” cap in those photos.
