You literally change your mind every few months. You were all in on digital a couple of years back, then disc, then you were frustrated with digital and planning to buy more discs and now you are done (in the main) with disc.

Speaking of menus, I really miss the cool animated DVD menus we used to have before loading up our movies. Why can’t we have more of that?

Because they cost more to design, probably.

I prefer simple straight forward menus myself. I don't need the menu to entertain me; that's the movie's job.

It was a nice little bonus though, some really inventive stuff in the early days. Not essential, just put a smile on my face.

It's amusing the first time, but that would get on my nerves sooner than later. Novelties have a way off wearing off quickly.

Animated menus got annoying very fast. I'd much rather have "Epsidode Select" than an overly long intro to every disc.

Glad to see that everyone is doing well..

Prey streamed with an ATMOS track in this neck of the woods. It looked and sounded awesome! It's my favourite installment without Ahhnold so I will definitely be picking up the UHD.

I love PRIME and couldn't live without it.. Living in the big smoke, I often still get same day delivery on items shipped and sold by them. i watch the occasional title on their service, but I don't think I'll spend the extra for ad free unless the ads occur in the middle of the feature.

I hate menus and don't regularly watch special features so I skip them all on my ZIDOO and just go right into the movie.

Good article on what the death of Netflix DVD means. It's a paradigm shift, not simply a service gone. The streamers have very little incentive to preserve media.

Twitter (X) next to make a smart tv app for their upcoming push into short video content.

Apparently, Youtube shorts has been a success on smart TVs. Not what I wanted to hear.

Why? There should be content to satisfy all customers desires. It in no way means home entertainment is going to shift towards 2 to 5 minute videos. Once again - Chicken Little The Sky Is Falling!

Roger Deakins apparently likes the Arri Alexa Mini LF camera so I would expect the video to look very good.

For several months now my new disc rips have been done as .MKV instead of .ISO, same for several redo’s. Just select and it starts playing. I can always load-up the disc if I want to watch special features.

I am curious to see if Dune introduces new players with the newer Realtek RTD1619BPD like Zidoo has done. Doubt we will see a new Zappiti player anytime soon.

most likely because
1) most people, like myself just want to get to watch the movie
2) It costs money to do and it does not change anything (have you ever heard someone say "Movie stinks and I will never watch it but I will buy it because the menu is cool"

A problem with the short form videos is people brag and prude themselves on having no attention span

Hard to imagine that leading somewhere good

I have never heard of anyone priding themselves on having "no attention span."

Short form videos are as old as the movies themselves. They are not a threat to anything.

The Youtube app has been featured on smart TVs for years; my 2016 4K 3D TV came with it pre-installed. Youtube is popular on several platforms: phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, and TVs; there is nothing new or scary about this fact.

You told us that people watching long form content on their phones meant that TVs were doomed. They aren't.

Now you tell us that people watching short form content on their (doomed) TVs means that long form content is also in trouble. It isn't.

Aren't there enough REAL things to worry about in this life without imagining all of these baseless silly ones?
