Norway Blåfjell 2 AKA Magic Silver 2 3D Blu-Ray (2011) [Region Free] [Norway only]

Magic Silver II 3D Blu-ray

Magic Silver 2 - Die Suche nach dem magischen Horn 3D Blu-ray < no English

This one never got its own thread and I've noticed some of the obscure Euro releases getting attention on here recently so might be worth discussing since newer 3D titles aren't coming often these days. I learned about this one from the13thman's list of movies only in Region A/B and grabbed a copy a few years ago which wasn't easy to import back then! As far as I know the only English friendly Blu-Ray is the Nordic release. Worth tracking down, the cover is lenticular.

That's right, there is a German edition but with no English options.

My comments from my initial viewing:

I wasn't expecting much either from the 3D or from the film, but this one pressed all my Christmas buttons, probably the best non-horror Christmas film I have watched this year. Even the songs didn't annoy me (too much).

The cover proclaims this to be Norway's first 3D movie so you'd hope for it to go all out, but it doesn't. Looks crystal though. The majority of the film is all depth, but thankfully we get a few brief pop-outs, including some water thrown at the camera, a stick in your face, some CGI magic, snow particles - all very noticeable and well done. The cave the gnomes live in extends back naturally and there's a real sense of space in there that you can't get out on the snowy mountain, to that end it helps that the film isn't letterboxed like it says on the back of the box, it fills the 16x9 frame nicely. And what 3D movie isn't improved by the inclusion of a minecart ride? I could have done with more ambient pop-out but overall I can't complain about this one, a pleasing natural 3D presentation with a few welcome pop-outs. No problem with subtitle clash either, so it's all good.
And here's some comments from Joe:

A wonderful family film that is simply breathtaking to behold in 3D. Some of the best floating popouts I ever saw. Highly detailed picture quality with magnificent color pallette which included catching the many beautiful facets of the strong winter sunlight and twilight.

As mentioned before, only this Norwegian edition (region B) includes English subtitles and is very hard to locate (the more available German release does not include English subs). The barcode for the disc I have is 7 071788003296.

Very highly recommended if you can find it.

if anyone lives in Norway and want to help get this title, post here. there's quite a few copies available on the second hand market but no way for outsiders to buy it.

The problem is one of the sites that carries all these titles, is a marketplace more akin to craigslist than ebay. Local contacts who are happy to help out with traditional mail order sites, don't want to touch this one.

It might be easier to pool our money, send Cabanon to Oslo, pick up the titles, drink a few Carlsbergs, catch a couple social diseases, and fly him back for disinfection.

I'll put up the first $10 on gofundme.

Hi all
I live in Norway and can help you guys out, no problem. Just drop me a PM.

Perhaps one of you US gentlemen could help me in return. I have backed the Robot Monster 3D kickstarter and need to get the disc out of the US once it drops, as I no longer have a US shipping adress available to me.

Hi all

OK, so there is some interest from you guys in this disc.

I have one personal copy of it that I intend to keep, so I will have to source some discs for you on the second hand market here in Norway.

Please note that there is a limited amount of copies available at this time. I will source the available discs and send them out to you, prioritizing you individually in the order that you contacted me.

Before I ship out, I will message you individually for payment (through paypal or whatever we agree on). I do this as a courtesy to help out my fellow 3D nerds, so I will only charge the actual costs of the discs and the shipping.

This disc is not that common any longer on the second hand market (old release now), but it pops up from time to time. So, if you give it some time, I am sure that most of you/all can receive a copy.

Please note that I do this to help fellow collectors, but that I have somewhat limited time resources to devote to this, so do not expect things to happen over night. But it will be done.

Also, philsfan has been so kind as to offer to help me with shipping of my Robot Monster 3D disc to Norway.

You will hear from me once the discs start showing up in my mailbox. Philsfan will be the first one to get shipment.

Best
Tullebob

If anyone here is able to purchase items from Huuto, there is a copy available:

https://www.huuto.net/kohteet/magic-...asia/582039530

I would buy it for myself, but Canadians don't seem to be able to buy from there!

It says my zip code is invalid. They must not ship to the states.

I heard that the 3D disc carries an anaglyph 3D version rather than a digital 3D version. Is this correct? If so, does it come with anaglyph 3D glasses in the packaging?

If you can find an SRT file for this movie online, you could utilize the German version…

I actually got it in the mail today. Bought it from this site for NOK 49, USD 4,50.
https://www.powermaxx.no/products/blafjell-2-blu-ray

Edit: It doesn't say on the site that it is 3D, so I was surprised when it arrived. I also don't know how many they have in stock. I tried to add 10 to my cart, and that worked well. Postage is 69 NOK for 10. So, if anyone in the USA wants to organize a group buy, I could order them home to me and send to that person.

Good price. Too bad, they don't seem to ship outside of Norway to Canada! Maybe I can use a re-shipping service...
