This is my first time hearing about this because I never picked up the Blu-ray, but I’ve just looked over the comparisons and, um, yeah… that’s a huge bummer. The original was so fantastical, romantic, almost intentionally “false” looking and painterly. The new one is more generic and “ominous.” It totally changes the feeling of the scene. All the other modifications I can live with as they mostly just correct errors, which I know many would have a problem with but generally I don’t care about lighting equipment, mountains and wires being erased. But stuff like this that actually changes the feeling/emotion/impact of a scene is super annoying.

Seems fairly similar to the BD CE… not sure which I prefer. I’m still gonna just go for the standard because I have no need for more of these giant paper and cardboard-filled sets, but it’s interesting dissecting graphic design and such.

They really, really, don't make Collector's Editions like they used to anymore. I know. I sound like a grumpy bastard but it's true. All of the collector's that come out are now completely overpriced and not as deluxe or as good as they used to be. The BD CE is miles better.

So Paramount got ahead of Disney to release this first.

I'm thinking that's because Disney's home video crew really is a skeleton crew of only a couple of people and they can't handle all that they could release. Hence why we're getting a lot of things but at a slow pace. If they knew any better they'd hire more people and size up the department a little next year.

Won't the international version be released this year? Back in 2012 the UK & US blu-ray sets were released on the same day

I'm also thinking I'm gonna go with the standard release. I was thinking about the CE for this movie, being as its on my top release wishlist and all, but I'm not really seeing much to justify over a hundred bucks, imo of course.
