More John Sayles is always nice! Hopefully Criterion (or someone) does Brother From Another Planet also! I'll be getting this one.

Which is amusing because they don't seem to mention him anywhere in the description on their site

Damn, I somehow forgot that.

Well, I'm assuming he should have more. Killer Joe and Dallas Buyers Club could be decent additions.

There is no 5.1 track. The DVD had DD 2.0 Surround as well.

No they wouldn't, since they have excellent releases already.

Oh wait, come to think of it...Criterion is all about pointless reissues these days. Carry on!

Finally! Special features seem a bit paltry, hopefully the disc is priced fairly to reflect that.

Yes, yes and yes. Plus Roan Inish has already been restored in gorgeous 4K.

Thumbs down

Another month of Criterion releases without Dead Presidents. The jerkoffs at Criterion won't even bother to answer my emails about weather we'll ever see a release or not.

Criterion have been less focused on extras recently, considering their layoffs, the focus on upgrading existing 4K spines and Janus Contemporaries with Channel extras, but to be honest 4K is the one format where a film could be barebones and I’d still buy it without hesitation, considering the Channel isn’t in 4K and how 4K streaming doesn’t seem to be the best for compression or HDR or all the masters being upgraded. Especially given it didn’t even have a BD before this poibt.

After Matewan, hopefully Criterion has more Sayles (and sales) in future.

Hollywood Pictures means it’s unlikely - Super Mario is only getting a UHD because Pathe hold international rights
