I hear Sting was the original casting for the lead role.

This looks pretty fun. The cinematography looks like a Netflix Original for some reason? With solid action and a decent plot, I can more than live with that, but I do wonder why it looks not as sharp as The Transporter 1-2.
Why does the trailer take a rock song and slow it down into a "Muzak" version? Statham looks like he's finally allowed to cut loose with the action chops, but the music is working against it. Confusing to me. |

Would be very on point if Statham were to remake Bronson's Breakheart Pass, that'd be a particularly poignant flick, which seems to be what this is going for. Script-wise, this one could have been a combination of Enemy of the State, Bourne, and Kingsman. But it seems like it is going more comedic in both script and cinematography, "John Wick Syndrome"? |

I definitely know of Bronson and his other films, but I have not yet seen Breakheart Pass. Breakheart Pass will be added to my short list of Winter Westerns I'm viewing later, this Winter. |

Frankly, and perhaps this should be in the unpopular movie opinions thread, The Stath is more charismatic than Tom Cruise. Here's the logic: Jason Statham plays the same guy in every film, if you see a Stath film, you're watching it for The Stath; with a Tom Cruise film, it's the subject matter or possibly his character that is the draw. To that end, as far as I am aware, Stath's films have consistent performance but Tom Cruise films do not; RIP Oblivion etc, the world hardly knew ye |

If someone made a case that Statham's combination of charisma/acting/action is greater than Keanu's, I don't believe I could honestly gainsay 'em. Could anyone? |

![]() Even Oblivion actually made more money at the BO than like 90% of Statham's filmography, including his three Transporter movies combined. And the sole consistent performance about Statham's filmography seems to be losing money, since that was the case for most of his movies, and even moreso for those he headlines, to the point where USA Today branded him one of the 'least bankable movie stars' a couple of years ago. I really don't know how Statham has kept getting work (maybe he's connected, maybe he got leverage over the right people, maybe he sold his soul, his butt or both, or maybe he was just lucky), but a box office draw he is certainly not. And 2023 has been a perfect example of this, with the balance for his movies this year being over $ 300 million. Over $ 300 million in losses, that is... |
