So are you denying that trailers are ads or not? See definition in previous post.

I’m saying they don’t bother me and never have. I am safe in the knowledge I will be watching a film without interruptions, in superior A/V quality. Not a problem.

Plus, sometimes there are trailers I do want to see.

I play DVDs on my PC with VLC media player. It ignores prohibited actions so nothing is ever unskippable.
Commercials you can't skip through on Universal DVDs

I just plunked in Bruce Almighty and was prepared for a night of enjoyable movie watching. DVD playback is one of the few uses my TV sees since I don't watch much TV now-a-days . Almost all of it is garbage designed to be just barely interesting enough to get you to stick around long enough to see the commercials.

Therefore, imagine my surprise when the first thing that popped up was a mess of promos for other movie titles. This in itself was bad enough to spoil things for me. It's nothing new to me, but at least I'm able to skip through them with the push of a button. With a grumble, I pushed the 'Menu' button like I've done many times before. This time around though, my DVD player responded with a innocent little "Prohibited" icon, the same one you get when you try to skip through the equally annoying FBI logo.

Not willing to back down from this challenge, I was determined to find an alternate method of getting this defilement off my television. I tried pushing the button to forward to the next chapter, but was restricted as well. I tried to manually enter in another chapter number, but that too was restricted. Ultimately, I was left with my fast forward button, forced to skip through these intrusions in the same time honored manner that was once a trait of the classic VCRs.

By this time, I was ROYALLY pissed. I was ready to go down and return the DVD, except that once its opened, you can't. So, with an extremely irate mood (just the right kind of mood you want to be in to watch a comedy movie), I went ahead and played the movie, but the prospect of having unskippable commercials on something I PAID MONEY FOR lingered on my mind throughout the entirety of the film.

So if someone has some movies on there, watch them fairly regularly, but rarely if ever do they make any additional "purchases," then Vudu (or whatever service) is no longer making any money off of that person, and eventually they start to cost the service money.

If enough people fall under this pattern (perhaps after "buying" all of their favorite movies that the service offers, only adding one on occasion here and there when one pops up, and perhaps waiting for sales when they do, if adding any at all), then it could potentially have an impact on these the viability of these services to continue.
it is a bit worst then that. They can't remove content no one is interested in buying any more (the person will be annoyed when he goes back for the purchase he made and it is no longer available) Bu t they also need to add new content ( to hopefully convince people to buy again) so the costs ar3e constantly increasing and not stable and so they constantly need more purchases to retain the quilibrium.

Killers of the Flower Moon was epic last night in Dolby Cinema. I actually didn't get up once to go to the bathroom.

Will probably start on my 4K Hellraiser set today.

That's nothing more than subjective evidence. I guarantee you that 90% of the people that watch discs watch them either on a disc player or a game console. You are definitely in the minority.

Amazing! Literally every post you make is nothing more than anecdotal evidence. It's not fact. It's nothing more than your opinion. It's totally subjective not objective which is fact.

Trailers are ads PERIOD!

So your argument is that discs have unskippable trailers if you ignore the methods that allow you to skip them?

They are there are they not? The fact that you figured out a way to skip them - good for you. Most can't because they are not using a PC to watch discs from.

Take a guess - out of 100,000 people that play discs - how many are using a PC versus a disc player or game console.

How many of those people are incapable of using a PC to play discs?

lol so you found a post form 20 years ago from one guy that was PO because his DVD had unskippable ads and you think you made a great discovery.

do you think streaming with ads will be any more favorable to a guy that said

Plus I have not watched a DVD in over 15 years, and that guy might hate trailers but I don't, we are allowed to have different interests.

so? and 100% of people that pick a streaming option with ads are willing to have them interrupt their watching. We are all allowed to be individuals.

I don't judge any product by how most people use it. I judge it by the best way it can be used.

I can find more if you like. Only took 10 seconds to find that one. You didn't know about it cause you never mentioned it. Great discovery on my part - you lose!

Changing the subject - typical Strawman Argument!

This whole chain of posts is based the Disc Defense Force - that includes you - saying there are no ads on discs. Well that was a false statement. You guys are just pissed that I brought it up.

I didn't need to use the restroom either but a lot of other people in the theater did. One lady in the row in front of my got up 3 times. It was a bit distracting but kind of expected with the long run time.
