Looks like bfi has finally sent me my last day sale order, comprised of 6 titles, by way of switzerland using asendia (I kind of surmised early early this morning before waking up to the bfi shipping notice several hours later that it was the only thing that unexpected tracking number could be tied to).

Reminds me of when base.com would sometimes have a bfi title despatched from there, back when they would still deliver to the US. Sadly that (often/always ?) meant it would arrive in a bubble mailer…

The BFI will release 70s set folk horror Starve Acre, from the director of Apostasy and starring Matt Smith.

How often does BFI do new announcements? I guess it's not as regular as most UK labels, given the last Blu-Ray ones were from August and the last ones of those are about to be released in 20 days or so.

They usually do announcements quarterly. The last one they did was in August for October-December titles. So there may be one for the first quarter of 2024 this month.

I think next week will be about 3 months since last announcements, so hopefully then.

The next titles that should be coming from them next year are Pressure, The Eternal Daughter, Getting it Back.

I don’t know what their sales figures are like, but they do have a lot of focus on theatrical and BFI Player at the moment, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to be more focused when so many other labels have acquired interesting titles. But with 10 titles this autumn, including boxsets, rarer titles and UHDs and new masters and extras, you really can’t complain.

Bold move, but I respect it. Other labels upgrading previous titles and this is a cool one to follow up for BFI. Good luck to them with it!

I see the Cymande doc is up on Amazon too, so I imagine an announcement is immanent (probably tomorrow or Friday).

In for the Clouzot 4K and I'll probably like the new Joanna Hogg film but the other announcements are are a bit meh. The Herzog doc interests me but sounds pretty streamable.
