What I would do is go to the store and compare 120 vs 60 and see what you think, thats the best thing to do. Otherwise i would say you would be fine with 60hz as it still looks unbelievable. Also depends on what u are looking to spend but i for one am a huge fan of Samsung Lcds!
There is no option to turn off 120hz in your LCD. What you're talking about is the Auto Motion Plus which is completely different than 120hz.

Go view some TVs that have 60hz VS 120Hz. I told a friend to NOT get a 60hz tv and she did. She regrets the hell out of her purchase now.

EDIT: wow I should read the thread before I post. Just like the rest of you, it grinds my gears when people get this stuff mixed up, especially when they already own the TV.

I think we should have a test before people can post outside of the newbie part of the forum. That way, crap like this wont happen. That should get rid of the stupid ones....

I vote that before a new member joins that they have to take a quick online class and quiz clarifying these types of misconceptions.

EDIT: AND existing members should have to take it based on this thread alone.

Some like that clarity, to me, It takes away the film look.
Once again: That is motion enhancement, NOT 120Hz. Read the posts in this thread.

Is there a difference? To some yes but to others like me no. It all comes down to preference. Some can see the difference between the two and others like me cant. I prefer 60hz because it shows the film as the director of the movie intended.

Its up to you in the end due to its your money.

sigh......
there is a blu-ray/vhs player though

and the remark about being the "best tv" is legitimate :P

I think what makes it confusing is that Samsung calls it "120hz Auto Motion Plus" on the TV's menu. So people think they are turning the 120hz off, but really they are turning the AMP off.

So do all 120hz TVs come with some sort of "Motion Plus" feature? If so, do all give the choice to turn on and off? I understand the 120hz is always on, but I am confused about the "Motion Plus" type feature and if variations of these are on all 120hz models.

No, some of the first gen 120Hz models(depending on the manufacturer) are 120Hz only, no frame interpolation feature included. the 120Hz panny in my HT gallery is one for example.
