Best soundtrack ever & one of the best movies ever too! I’m normally patient to the extreme but can’t believe we have to wait another 2 years for Le Grande Bleu 4K!

I’m hopeful that they’ll rescan Atlantis as well because it’s a wonderful companion/bridge for LGB and Nikita. It was shot between them when director & DP decided that they wanted to stay in Greek/Euro waters for another couple years after LGB wrapped.

This is a gem of a film. Imported the BD a few years back but will gladly upgrade.

In a perfect world they would! Even if they include a simple rescan/resto of the US cut with Bill Conte soundtrack on blu, that would be awesome.

I think I watched the US-cut once on VHS back in the day. Not aware it was ever released on DVD. Also like to watch it again for comparison.

that US cut was only released on VHS and Laserdisc by RCA Columbia in the USA.

There was however a HD widescreen version of it screened on TV at some point.

Bigger concern with this one will be the lack of English soundtrack. When Gaumont released the BD in France if was just the French-language version.

Plus, from those Tweets, NIKITA coming as well. Oh yes!

the official soundtrack is English. French track is dubbed. It will be odd if they only included French track.

Indeed, it was Besson's first English-language film, but it's what Gaumont have done on their previous releases.

Le tournage de “Le Grand Bleu” fut marqué par des défis physiques, avec des descentes sous-marines quotidiennes et des conditions climatiques difficiles. Aucun doublage pour les scènes de plongée, les acteurs, entraînés par Luc Besson lui-même, ont relevé le défi. Inspiré de la vie du plongeur Jacques Mayol, le film devint culte, attirant 9,2 millions de spectateurs en France malgré un accueil critique mitigé lors de sa première à Cannes en 1988.

This has been on my to-watch list for so long. Mainly, it was because Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette were in another movie together (post-After Hours), but I kept pushing it aside for other movies. I need to finally get this movie after hearing so many good things about it.
