Hasn’t motion interpolation been used to fill in some missing frames in the 4K restoration of King Kong vs. Godzilla, released by Toho on UHD in 2021?

I believe the restoration featurette on Criterion's release of Richard III, narrated by Martin Scorsese, describes how they used the technique to replace a missing frame in Olivier's film.

This release is stacked! Glad so much of the before/after effects footage is included, so little has been shown but I've read a lot about how they were done.
Who the hell is gonna buy Avatar again though? Everybody who liked the movies got the special edition previous releases...such a waste of material! |

Wow! Just from a cursory glance, it looks like almost everything from The Abyss DVD carried over, except for the text commentary (a damn shame) and -some- of the LD supplements. The "imaging station" feature (I think) consisted of the treatment, script, and all the photos but not the behind-the-scenes text. We'll see.
But color me excited... I bought the DVD in high school and when this is released I'll be 41! |

I am in absolute disbelief this is finally happening after all these years for both Abyss and True Lies.

I'd care but it only seems to affect the special edition, which I could care less with how much tinkering he does with that cut, which apparently I'm one of the only people who thinks the theatrical cut is better

I imagine the shot of Bud in the NTI chamber was very likely only zoomed in as a character moment for the trailer - it looked suspiciously blurry compared to every other shot. I wouldn’t put too much stock in that. The framing discrepancy on the wave shot is negligible.

The sky in the bridge shot is what looks to me have a teal push. The other shot looked fine, it looks blue.
