I bet that after 4k blu-ray is released we will see shortly some online to download BDRemux that will be home color corrected to match old laserdisc/35mm scan. Similiar thing happen to other classics T1,T2, Titanic etc.

So that was fun..here's one for you to try that isn't related to color but how fast you can make recognize proper angles, squares, mid-points etc.

The LaserDisc was never the correct color, come on now...same goes for Aliens. Good for the equipment of most consumers at the time, but hardly theater accurate due to CRTs and scanning tech.

Cameron isn't Lucas or Mann when it comes to revisionism.

The laserdisc argument again? Christ.

Sometimes I wish that format never existed lol.

I got a 24 on that test, which wasn't too surprising. Whenever they test my colors at the eye doctor, there's always a couple of them I get totally wrong.
Maybe that's why I've never noticed these teal issues that everyone else complains about.

I remember I called it out once since the DVD used the same master and the guy defended himself by saying "the laserdisc doesn't have the magenta push the DVD has"

No it's the same master lol, right down to the theatrical cut having the slowed down end credits instead of the infamously fast ones (which is why the DVD theatrical cut ran 145 minutes instead of 140 minutes)

If you wanna know something hilarious, fairly recently I played parts of the DVD to compare how awful its quality was and my 4K player had trouble reading it properly, almost as if that DVD was so old it confused the player itself as to how to properly decode it (I had a lot of trouble navigating the menu for example, not even the scene selections worked right)

Sounds like disc rot.

Which means these announcements couldn't have been more timely lol.

I'm probably one of the few people who still has the DVD (lol), which is likely why this wasn't reported prior

Admittedly I've always wondered why this and True Lies got such piss poor treatment on the DVD, I can't speak for True Lies but what was also particularly dumb was it was a non-anamorphic transfer but the menu itself was anamorphic

One thing I'm also looking forward to is having the proper theatrically accurate sped up credits (assuming they will be that is, since the HD theatrical master had them), while it is a minor thing it did have music edits unique to it

I’ve still got the Abuse SE DVD and had no issues navigating it on my OPPO when I last sifted through the extras a couple years back.

I still have this DVD, with that chonky double-sized case. Have not looked at it in probably 5 years at least.

I never picked up the DVD because it wasn't anamorphic; stupid me, kept hoping. And here we are. Still, why nothing until now? Sigh. I did get the fan-made streaming rip from a few years ago. Holds up, still one of my favorite movies. Had the SE VHS back in the 90s...anyway, it's been mindbogglingly too long.

That theater is just 2 blocks from my job. Too bad Dec. 6 is a Wednesday. I don't go to the movies Mon-Thursdays.

[Show spoiler]Is this the movie where the monster ends up being some water shape that moves around with a face on the end of it? It's not really a scary movie nor is it a monster movie at least the way I remember it.

If so, I think that's all there is about this movie. Excited to buy it the first time on DVD and I don't think I could ever buy it again.

Is there more to this movie other than that?

I sometimes wish I could send myself a message back in time for DVDs like this and tell myself to get the open matte version when the widescreen one isn't 16x9.
It's probably not that many, but I at least would have been able to watch a slightly easier to display version rather than a zoomed in laserdisc transfer.
