I sell both of those TVs on a daily basis... From what I've seen, you can flip a coin and take home a great set either way. I like the cosmetic appearance of the Samsung better, but I think the Sony displays non-HD signals better than the Samsung. If you already hadn't made a purchase, I might have reccomended you to go back and stare at the Samsung a little bit more, but in your situation I would just be at home enjoying a great TV.
