I've never got any media delivered early.... you guys are some lucky Atomic bombs

Looks like I'll be up early on Tuesdays.

How's the transfer look? Is it a scan of the 1570 Imax film?

I was lucky to see it day one in imax and then my family surprised me and took me to see it on 35mm. Goddesses miss that purr from the projector... or hum as I've heard others call it.

My copy of the WM exclusive is due out today but they shipped it FedEx and they don't like getting out of their trucks in my neighborhood so I'm expecting having to jump through hoops to pick it up somewhere

That Walmart edition is the only one of the trio of US versions that appealed to me. Cillian Murphy looked weird plastered in the middle of all that fire orange in the background. He looked even weirder miniaturized as more of a silhouette in the other version. The lack of artistic vision in this country is seriously worrying.

My copy from Best Buy still hasn't shipped apparently, and they usually ship preorders out on Thursday that arrive Monday..

My place didn't get there's early either.. They got the BLU and DVD at the normal 10-14 days before street but the 4K still wasn't shippable from their distributor as of Fri.. Hopefully it doesn't mean it's going to be hard to find in stores on Tuesday..

That said I could get DIal of Destiny now if I wanted it.. LOL.

Just curious what's the soonest I can list a digital code for sale on this site? I'm assuming no sooner than Tuesday?

I’m sorry if this has been answered, but since the steelbook of this is sold out on BB online, does that mean they won’t have any inventory of it in stores on Tuesday?

Your best best would be check the website I think anytime after 1am ET Tuesday morning. I've done this a few times and you can do a store pick up or delivery if available.

It's not necessarily "sold out", it's the usual status of "coming soon" until Tuesday (12:00AM Eastern Time, though the actual switch-over sometimes takes 5 to 10 minutes after that). Like with other steelbooks of late, once the switch happens, you can order for shipping, or see if any copies are located near you for pick-up.

This might be Nolan’s best disc release ever. In terms of presentation and supplement material included, A+. No notes.

The documentary is very good and the presentation is reference. The audio is insane.

I missed the theatrical release and lots of people have recommended it. Is this a good blind buy?

It depends if you're into a very chatty three-hour drama with distinguishable acts and you'd want to see it over and over.

I'm one of those people. Saw it three times in theaters and will be getting and watching this tomorrow evening.

I guess it all depends. I missed it in theaters, and am still waiting for my 4k to ship, but my neighbor and his kid both gave me their reviews briefly a few days ago....

1) Male, age 58 - "gripping, epic, engrossing, had an incredible sound track. Might be my new favorite Nolan effort. Will definitely buy the disc"
2) Male, age 22 - "dumb, boring, bunch of talking, nothing was happening, I walked out after about 15 minutes to get something to eat"

If you’re a fan of other Nolan films and his style then absolutely. Some consider the film too long and bureaucratic but the film is epic.

For no other reason, buy it just to support the format. Nolan was very involved with the physical release and packed it with a third disc for the extras. Unfortunately he’s not a Dolby Vision/Atmos guy but he said this regarding the release on physical.

Quote:
“The Dark Knight’ was one of the first films where we formatted it specially for Blu-ray release because it was a new form at the time,” he continued. “And in the case of ‘Oppenheimer,’ we put a lot of care and attention into the Blu-ray version… and trying to translate the photography and the sound, putting that into the digital realm with a version you can buy and own at home and put on a shelf so no evil streaming service can come steal it from you.”

I've never looked so forward to watching a movie than I am with Oppenheimer. For one reason or another I missed it in theaters but plan on dedicating an afternoon this weekend to the film and extras. I watched Interstellar yesterday in a kind of prep for this and that film is also mesmerizing. Nolan is this generation's Spielberg and I hope he never tires of filmmaking. We're so lucky he's also a big fan of physical media.

But some people might be a fan of Nolan’s style mostly in how he approaches action, in which case this film would be quite lacking in that regard.

Still a good film, but I wouldn’t blindly recommend it to anyone who likes Nolan films.
