Amazon is showing the ship date of December 5th. I didn’t think much of it, but the movie isn’t out for delivery. I contacted Amazon and they told me they would contact the shipper, for some reason.

It’s the first time Amazon has missed the release date for me. Should I wait a few days or is this likely going to be shipped in December and I should buy it in the store?

I watched it last night... the release is beautiful and I for one, love the variable aspect ratio.

It's naive of me to decide NOW to seek a pre-order of the steelbook of a movie that made almost a billion dollars in the box-office, and expect it'd be available to purchase.

I bit the bullet and ordered the SteelBook from eBay earlier this morning for double the retail price. Seller said they have it in hand and have photos of it, so I went for it. I must have this one.

They will do 3 or 4 re-releases besides the gazillion editions from Asian premium retailers.

Imagine how fast a Barbie steelbook would sell out with the additional extras...

Based on my Best Buy preorder not shipping and now showing an estimated delivery of this weekend "or by Dec 4," it seems like it's not an Amazon-exclusive problem and there is indeed some weird delay in shipments or low stock or something. If you need/want it sooner I would probably go ahead and try to find it in-store somewhere and just cancel the Amazon order

Yeah I worked today and so I figured my store would have copies, I was shocked to see we didn’t receive a single copy in any format. I went ahead and ordered off Walmart since they seem to be able to ship it the fastest. Even the Walmart by me was out of stock and I’d have to go a bit out of my way to pick it up today it seems at any store.

Ebay for me on the steelbook I guess... can't say I'll miss BB when it comes to trying to simply purchase what should be a readily available product.

yeah i thought about doing pick up but i think kindof dumb just to sit in car wait for them to give it you and leave i much rather go into store get it

i called 8:30 asked any new releases guy said wait until 2 try calling back on title of movie busy can't get ahold of anybody over at electronics

yes there's icon 4k edition for shipping but i'm not paying alot of money for that it's too bad standard 4k out of stock for shipping to store for deliver meh

Thanks! A bit surprising. I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of days, but waiting until next month is too munch. I'll do that and cancel my Amazon order.

So on the Apple TV store it shows Oppenheimer as being available in DV, which seems weird. Anyone know if that's actually true?

Debating between physical and digital and if DV is on the digital release it throws a wrench in my decision.

Yes, digital has DV, disc is HDR10. Imax ratio is on disc only as well.

Yes it's true, it's really common for a disc version to be basic HDR and the streaming services to offer the DV version.

while DV is present on the digital stream, it is not the authentic and intentional presentation. HDR10 is what Nolan supervised and considers the best and most faithful presentation of his movie. He has always used HDR10 for all disc releases, DV is more likely a studio decision. So if you want to watch the movie the way Nolan wants you to watch it, HDR10 is the way to go.

Thank you to everyone who bought this film on physical media. Important little video re: Nolan and death of physical media

I'm glad that I saw this in the theater and I don't have to race to go out and spend $30-$40 on a disc / version I'm not thrilled about. We saw it in 70mm projection, which was interesting. The movie is very good....but it's not going to change your life. Probably the least enthusiastic and rewatchable of any of Nolan's recent releases, for me personally. If I can offer any sort of recommendation to not overspend on a blind buy, for a non-ideal version for yourself.

I'm going to want the crazy looking steelbook. Not settle for the slipcover version.

Love this type of advocacy coming from our favorite movie makers.
