Why does Warner keep making the same mistakes with new leadership?

Just copy Paramount’s model which works for them:

Paid:
Paramount+ & Showtime
Paramount+
Paramount+ with ads

Free:
Pluto TV

Heck. Disney and Fox cooperate and have:

Disney Paid:
Disney+, Hulu, & ESPN+
Disney+ & Hulu
Disney+
Disney+ with ads
Hulu with ads
ESPN+

Fox Corporation Free:
Tubi TV

Why not just call it Warner+. This is beyond stupid, Zaslav really thinks viewers are turned off by its HBO name, smh. I wouldn’t be shocked if he decides to rebrand all of HBO’s cable channels. To think it’s only been a year since this clown took charge and we’re not even half way through this year yet

You know that would probably be the best name honestly for it because it Warner + more.

To be fair, they only called it HBO Max so they could keep HBO's licensing of outside studio movies. If it was solely based in WB they probably wouldn't have been able to keep those as it would have been a completely new thing. If they had become a studio-specific service like Disney+ then it'd have probably been something like WB+ from the start.

I've heard that they might have pop-ups and ads interrupting regular MAX content - maybe this is just for ad-tier (hopefully). I do think, especially with GOP primary, court cases and 2024, that it will be nice to have access to CNN though. Cut the cable last year and do occasionally miss the news channels.

It took long enough but my Max subscription finally renewed, it said renewal is September 10, 2023 but I had to wait until the actual time I subscribed which was around 7:40pm.

My plan is listed is Legacy Ad-Free so I’m wondering if I still get 4K and Atmos with the 100 downloads and streaming on 4 devices. I also did the year at $150, guess I’ll test it now.

EDIT: Just tried The Flash ‘23, played in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, my subscription in the AppleTV app shows Legacy Ad-free $149.99.

So, anyone who got the old plan like me, don’t change it.

One new report revealed which streaming service cancels the most shows and the results might surprise you. A collaborations between Illuminate and Variety Intelligence Platform says that Max is the streamer who ends up pulling the plug on shows the most often. Their report is called "The Show Must Go Off," and it takes a look at how often the heavy hitters in the streaming landscape opt to cut a show short. Between 2020 and last month, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV+, Max, Paramount+ and Peacock had a cancellation rate of 12%. That would only be 2% higher than broadcast TV.

Some might be surprised to see Max at the top of the pile when it comes to cancelling shows. But, there's one reason the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming platform ends up taking the top spot. When David Zaslav took over the company, he tried to slash their debt by nixing shows left and right.
