Full Screen Picture - Suggestions ? - Blu-ray Forum

Tried to locate a similar thread but was not able to find one.

I just saw Coraline and I really liked the full screen video it offered. So was wondering if anyone could give suggestion on movies that offer a full screen video on blu.

It all depends on how the movie was shot, basically if it done using a "flat" aspect ratio, usually somewhere between 1.66:1 and 1.85:1, it should show up "full screen" without any bars. If it was shot using a "scope" ratio ranging all the way from 2:1 to 2.4:1, and even beyond in some older films, it'll have the bars at the top and bottom.

The aspect ratio you saw is called widescreen, not full. Almost all Blu-rays are widescreen. There are only a handfull that are full screen like The Third Man.
