Well, that was an abject failure. The turntable can only be hooked up to the phono input when using the preamp on the receiver. I tried every other input and nothing worked. In addition to that, the record I played now was sounding harsh and so bass-heavy that it hurt to listen to it. I got such a splitting headache I thought I might puke. I think it is time for a new stylus or even a new turntable. The stylus is one of those standard Denon ones. It's lasted 7 years and serves me well, but the sound it's sending back isn't top-of-the-line.
