From living in the US most of my life and experiencing summers of 80 to 90 degrees, with other states reaching warmer than that during the same time.
What would you say the average summer temperatures are during July or August in the continental US? I guess you could say 70, but not this summer IMO. The AC has been running every day. The northwest states are probably cooler, like Washington or Montana. |

I was just wondering where you get some of the info that you post here. Thanks for clarifying. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, but there are maybe a handful of states that average near the low end of your scale for an entire summer, and no states that come near an average of 110 degrees.

That's one nice thing about VR, in that when you're walking in a scorching desert, you don't actually need to feel the unbearable heat too. Or in a frozen wasteland in VR, ice cold temperatures.

There's no doubt average temps have risen dramatically over the last 10 years. I never thought I would need air conditioning in WA State but now I can't imagine life without it. We've been getting a lot of 80 degree days this summer but it feels downright mild compared to the last few summers when we were regularly hitting 100+ (which was unheard of when I was a kid). But good lord I hope we never reach a point where there are multiple places in the country that average 110 degrees for a whole summer. Just the thought makes me sweat. The fact that Phoenix hit a high of 110 for a month straight is wild.
Anyway, back on topic, even though I suspected things would be a bit quiet following the PSVR2 release I didn't think it would get this quiet. I always get excited about new tech and I had a hard time not pre-ordering one but it hasn't been hard to resist at all since launch. I hope we get some interesting announcements soon since I would like to pick one of these up eventually. |

Washington should be cooler I would have thought, yes.
I was in Florida years ago, and 95 degrees there, felt like 100+. Walk into an air cooled store and instant relief. I wouldn't be able to live there, and I don't know how so many retired senior elderly people live there. No snow at least. Hopefully things don't warm up too much any time soon; stronger storms. I think the world goes through its cycles of weather and temperatures. Every 15,000 years, scientists say there is a major ice age that sweeps over continents. Usually after too much water covers the earth, reflecting the sun's heat and then cooling down the earth's surface temperatures to freezing. Glaciers through the Grand Canyon and all. Earth does what it wants regardless of humans. With PSVR2, PSVR Without Parole is showing new games are happening. How often, i'm not sure, but it seems they do a decent number of reviews and previews for Mid and small tier developers. |

Looks like GreenHell is a survival style game.
I watched PSVR Without Parole talk about it, and he said they might use the smaller map version from the Quest VR port of Greenhell, rather than the larger map PC port of the game, though not fully confirmed yet. |

I've had the headset since launch. Being new to VR I wanted to list the best things I've tried as at this moment and do the tier thing. There's been so much cool stuff and most of my gaming in 2023 has been in VR.
S Tier Propagation: Paradise Hotel: Absolutely excellent, I mean it. One I've just played. It's like classic Resident Evil going around a creaky mansion, and a few random scares thrown in the mix. Moss and Moss: Book 2: Upgrades from the PSVR1 original. I recommend everyone new to VR jump into these charming puzzler/platforming games. Red Matter 1 and 2: The best looking games I've played on the headset. Creepy space mystery puzzlers. Really cool. Gran Turismo 7: The most impressive Sony 1st party AAA game on the platform. Resident Evil: Village The most impressive 3rd party AAA game on the platform. No Man's Sky: The recent visual upgrade makes this on par or better than the one on PCVR. This is another very impressive game in VR. Walkabout Mini-Golf: Such a great game, so much variety in its courses with more being added seemingly every other few weeks. Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 1 & 2: Smacking Zombies down with a bat, son. Know your place fool! More great lookers. Very detailed and clear. A Tier Zombieland Headshot Fever: It was difficult for me getting the platinum of this one as the shooting range demanded a lot of me for s ranks, but damn is this really fun. Thumper: Lots of levels, very very addictive rhythm and skill based game with haptics. Pavlov: The best multi-player shooter I've played. Loads of modes, great haptics (head and hands), loads of modes. Horizon Call of the Mountain: Mileage could vary depending on how experienced one is in VR. I wasn't and had no problem with the climbing and trailing of mountains. Lots of cool enemy encounters and definitely one of the best looking games on the platform. Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge: Have had a good time with this one. It may be a Quest 2 port, but it's a significantly better looking version. And features various haptic effects. Fairly short, but I'm honestly liking that of a lot of VR stuff. B Tier Switchback VR It had a visual update, and looks great. A fun on-rails shooter. The Room VR: Another PSVR1 port with some visual enhancements. A creative puzzle escape room type thing. Very cool environments, really liked it. Short but sweet game (similar to the Red Matter games) Rez Infinite: A well known game from PSVR1. Very artful if pretty basic. If you want to get a bit tripped out, and shoot a bunch of trippy things, this is the game. C Tier Kayak VR Mirage: Another nice looking version of ported Quest/PC title. It's a cool demo of how VR can be done in another way. Am not sure there's a great deal of game there though unless they add multi-player. It's a lot of time trial stuff. Not 'bad' just not a high tier game imo. A few games of note coming up soon (Resident Evil 4 VR, Vertigo 2 which is like Half Life Alyx and some have said prefer it, Arizona Sunshine 2, The Foglands). |

Arizona Sunshine 2 looks pretty good from the gameplay I saw. I'd be interested in that one.
I'm seeing "Renewed" PSVR2's for $500 on amazon .com. I'd avoid a used unit at all costs. I just don't like the idea of putting on a headset someone else wore even if they cleaned it to some degree. For the store PSVR on display at Best Buy back in 2017, I only peeked through the lenses without actually putting it on, so I didn't really get any great appreciation for how cool it would be December 2017 when I bought one brand new on sale for 199.99. That deal did not last and went right back up to $399.99. Good point. Full price from what I see too so far. $549.99 to 599.99, that's just too much for a headset with games I'm not really interested in so far other than a few and some older ones. Amazon.com does a "Price hidden till you click on it" for the PSVR2 unit and then it's just full price anyway. ![]() Quote:

I've only seen the black Friday sales on the games so far, many of them are ridiculously cheap, and they already did sales in October. If you have PS Plus Saints & Sinners Retribution is like £13.19 wtf??
![]() - - - - I've just finished with Synapse, a good rogue light shooter that's like a mix between Control/Returnal in VR or something. Would stick that in A tier. Paper Beast was a PSVR1 port I played, would probably do B tier? Very unique puzzle game, just a little dated looking. |

I wonder why Sony didn't offer gamers more incentive with a PSVR2 headset sale, or the stores? Usually if they have too many units, they'll try to promote sales with discounts. But nothing in 2023, from February. I'm going to play a PSVR1 game now.
Maybe December will show a sale price. $599.99 PSVR2 full set with game, hopefully drops to $499.99 with game for at least 1 week. That's still too much for me to jump in with the limited game library. Meanwhile, Quest 2 went on sale for $249.99 this week. And now a Quest 3 exists with a much larger library of games. I'm just not thrilled about needing to be online to play games, but heard you can download the games after buying them, and then go offline to play. Then I don't really like the idea of having to recharge a headset. PSVR2, it's wired so no recharging other than the hand grips often. Eventually, these "rechargeable" devices wear out of battery strength till they no longer work without a cord, or at all as I discovered with my PS3 controller. It will not hold a charge no matter what and I leave it corded for it to work. It's only PSVR2's first year, so here's hoping some great VR games in 2024. |

That Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 2 installs as version 1.0 and then there is an update to 1.09. I think that's pathetic. For as long as this took it should be on at least 1.05 on disc. They apparently made no effort to grab the latest version of the game. Anyway, I'm still working on AW2 but might start it after that.

Picked up PSVR2 and had a chance to hook it up today and play a little bit of Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village.
This was my first true VR experience, and I was impressed by both games. Resident Evil especially, but wow it gets hot wearing that headset. I needed to take fairly frequent breaks. I wasn’t expecting it, but I felt a little of the motion sickness some talk about, so I’ll have to only play it briefly at first, until I hopefully build up a tolerance. I’m also hoping Sony adds 3D playback for movies and other immersive options to watch movies. It’s definitely capable of delivering a unique moviegoing experience, like the Apple Vision Pro promises. |

If GTA VI has a VR mode, that’s going to be a lot to take in as well. If it’s anything like Resident Evil, it could be really impressive too. Resident Evil feels like an amusement park ride or something. My brain knows the zombies can’t actually harm me, but it makes it no less overwhelming physiologically. |
