I've never bothered with region free stuff myself, so you'd get better information from someone else, but looking at those specific prices for region-free versions, I can't help but think you might be better off just supplementing your main player with a dedicated Region A player instead?
Thank you. A separate player of good quality might cost more than buying this all in one. Space is an issue, too. What is Dolby Vision (in ELI5 terms)?

I don't have the space for a dedicated Region A player, so this was the best option for me as I needed the player to be multi-region for Blu-ray (as well as DVD).

There are definitely a few operational quirks with the UB450 and I would strongly recommend getting a larger third-party replacement remote as the supplied one is awful but otherwise I'm very glad I swapped as BD-100's play on it without freezing and it detects Dolby Vision automatically
.
Thank you for the details. For how long have you had the Panasonic UB450? And do you have any experience with the Panasonic 820?
