There's a pinkish hue here on the DVD and that doesn't look good, either.
I’m not able to load the comparison on my phone but I’ll make a set of screencaps to post tomorrow. The color isn’t a dealbreaker for me but it is distracting, and it’s one of those things you can’t unsee once you see it.

You sure about that? Transformers Rise of the Beasts has a slipcover.

Why does Cameron have to rely on his memory? Couldn't he just pull out a threatre print of the movie from 1997 and watch what color that print has?

I trust Cameron on this one despite my massive dislike of Avatar and the T2 3D conversion.

Maybe it's only the catalogue titles that aren't getting them? Rosemary's Baby, which was released on the same day, didn't come with one.

Sleepy Hollow didn't have one either.

Got my copy today and sampled some scenes.

I'm not a professional by any means and haven't done any back to backs with the blu-ray but immediately when I put this in something looked off. I'm not even sure I can put my finger on what exactly I'm seeing. It definitely appears more saturated and there's been some sort of filtering going on although it's hard to tell exactly what it is. A little smeary in motion and overall has an artificiality to it. Anyone else that's done a more detailed look at it can chime in on what I'm seeing here.

Turns out the disc Paramount uses was made by Disney, as it uses the same ''ding'' and layout they use.

I have a feeling some user reviews of this disc are going to be tainted by confirmation bias and rampant speculation.

Thx for the info. Good grief. I did get mine from .com to avoid any billingual business so fingers crossed it comes with slip.

Opening to Titanic (1997) 2023 4K Ultra HD - YouTube
Since it is a partial Disney (unfortunately) Property I am not surprised by this decision that they made

It’s not like they weren’t afraid to call out the crappy T2 4K. Why wouldn’t they here?

It begs the question: Is it worse to speculate or speculate on speculation?

Why ''unfortunately''? I'm guessing Disney did the disc on request of Cameron, since they're releasing all of his movies.

Disney (through Fox) owns the movie everywhere but in the US.

Disney also encodes FAR better than Paramount.

The caps alone show that some sort of artificial sharpening was done (whether it was ai or not). Fine detail wouldn’t look like it does otherwise.

The grain also doesn’t look great. It should look more organic and refined. Whether that was due to the “additional remastering” done for this transfer, compression deficiencies (the bitrate is a bit low for a film source), or both, it’s unclear.

Edit:

Noise reduction gives it more detail than the film would normally have (even in areas where there should be small amounts of motion blur)
Altogether making the image strangely sharp and artificial looking on my 4k projector.
I'm almost done ripping it to my computer so I should have screenshots soon.
Edit: Just went back and read some of the posts and I see there have been other screenshots posted. So I will just show a couple of random ones.

Just look at his hand holding the phone in the full size image. Is that supposed to be hair? The artificial sharpening is definitely there.
