I think you missed the link ... by not clicking on "January 23" in my previous post.

Killers of the Flower Moon Release Dates On Apple TV+, Digital, Streaming, 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray & DVD

* Expected Jan. 23, 2024 (USA)

I'd say pretty good chances (99%) as Italy is set for January 25.

Yes, it looks like they decided to go completely traditional with this release, first.

Wide theatrical, PVOD, physical, and THEN Apple+.

It honestly looks like they have less confidence in their subscription streaming service taking off, then they did three or four years ago. Streaming is slowly faltering.

I'm betting Apple gets out of the movie producing game in the next little while. Unless, of course, they just want to be an actual, regular Hollywood studio, rather than relying on their streaming service for revenue return.

Anyway, it's great for us to get a better shot at physical releases, rather than these big films being stuck in streaming hell indefinitely.

I am still grateful to them for making these films, at such cost and risk.

The movie was a BO Flop so Apple is maximizing their ability to cash in.

It made some decent bucks. If it weren‘t in the theatres it would be a financial disaster.

Doubtful -- they're spending almost 5 billion a year in original programming. Features, television and that's not including the stuff that's already on ATV+, but actual development.

Apple is doing just fine in that regard.

Damn, what a staggering piece of cinema. Scorsese serves up an uncompromising history lesson while exploring different shades of evil. One who is so cold, calculating and believes to be righteous. The other who is in denial of their own culpability.

It’s been a long time that a film elicited such strong emotions throughout and stunned me into sitting in silence for the entire end credits. The profound relief when Mollie is finally taken from the house to end her physical suffering, and the devastation in the final scene between Mollie and Ernest where she realizes the man she had loved unconditionally was beyond redemption.

DeNiro is chilling in portraying the conviction and remorseless behind his character’s lies and manipulation. The penetrating sadness of Lily Gladstone’s eyes leave an indelible mark. Leonardo DiCaprio delivers his most transformative role since The Aviator and without question in his top 3 performances (along with Revolutionary Road/The Aviator for me).

Sorry, cgpublic, but I can’t imagine this being as gripping if it had centered on Tom White and the FBI rather than this very tragic love story.

Oh, trust me, I hope they DO continue doing what they're doing.

They're actually developing things I actually want to see, and giving important filmmakers the necessary backing.

And I hope going through the whole process of theatrical, PVOD, physical media (thank God), and Apple+ makes them enough return on the films that they keep doing it.

They're even supposed to be backing Scorsese's next, "The Wager", with DiCaprio.

For my part, I'm SO glad this film didn't just get slapped right onto AppleTV+ and left there. I love that I got to see it three times on the big screen, and will get to own it, on disc, as well. I'll let it stream through a few times on Apple, still, just to show support, as well as keeping my subscription year round.

A Masterpiece.

By the way, how about Tatanka Means? I feel like few have mentioned him talking about this film. He's not a very big role, but he emmited such a badass and heroic energy. (He is the Indigenous FBI guy).

A towering work.

It is interesting to note that here in Australia (where we got a censored version for a Aussie M rating), KOTFM has turned up on Foxtel (cable network), to rent via “Express Release” in either HD or SD (no 4K). This is the normal path to an eventual physical media release.

However… I think that Italy may be the only region to get a release, like CODA, since they don’t have Apple TV, allegedly.

So, that means I have 2 questions.

1. Is there a lot of “Native American” spoken in the film?
2. Has it been confirmed that there is only Italian subs?

If the first question is correct, the Italian release will be close to useless.

Much like the German Orange is the New Black final season on BD (only 1080pBD release worldwide), due to a lot of Hispanic characters speaking Spanish, and only German subs, the release is not viable for only English speaking individuals.

I don’t think we will get a release anywhere else, due to Apple’s ownership of the film. I hope I’m wrong.

I'm not 100 percent, yet, but that label (Eagle Pictures/RAI) is very good about making English friendly releases.

Their "CODA" disc has the English soundtrack, plus forced English subs for the sign language scenes. Or, you can select to have the entire film with English subs (CC), or you can select an Italian dubbed soundtrack, with Italian subs for the sign language.

They recently released an Italian film by Marco Bellocchio, called, "Kidnapped", and the entire film is in Italian, but the release has English subs.

I am guessing that "Killers" will feature English plus forced subs for the Native American parts, and an Italian dubbed soundtrack option.

I wish if there is an US physical release happening soon that they'd just go ahead and announce it.

(BTW, there's not a ton of Native American language, and some isn't even subtitled to begin with. But there are a few key moments that have conversations and need subs.)

I would bet that Criterion releases it or something. This was a wide theatrical global release. There 10000000% will be a proper physical release in North America and elsewhere.

I'm certain there will be at some point. But I meant if they're going to release one in the US very soon, around the same time or just after, the Italian one, then I won't bother importing, I'd just cancel that and get the US release. I'll go ahead and get the Italian one, though, if it's going to be a year or two for a Criterion.

The major awards are very likely going to go a different way, but in these early, preliminary awards from critics and such, this film hasn't had a bad showing, so far.

The Historical icon Honorary Award from The Gotham Awards
Best Film and Best Actress at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards
Best Actress and Best Breakthrough for Lily Gladstone w/ Atlanta Critics
Best Picture, Director, Actress, and Cinematography from National Board of
Review

Pretty good take, so far.

Definitely. For example, last year the National Board of Review didn’t predict the Oscar results at all giving picture to Top Gun, director to Spielberg, actor to Farrell, supporting actor to Brendan Gleeson, and supporting actress to Janelle Monae. All lost or weren’t nominated. Only Yeoh’s win was a predictor.
