Sitting about 10 feet away on my 75’, it looked absolutely spectacular. Glad I don’t go frame by frame looking for faults. I just sat back and enjoyed this wonderful movie looking better than ever. This made me incredibly excited for the abyss, true lies, and aliens.

This is arriving today but I’m disappointed already by the reports of the yellow tint and missing line, but will wait to see it myself. I love my 3D copy and will even convert it to 2D and imagine that may be my preferred version going forward.

Hi, I am looking for the open matte 2D version, I have heard it can be found in the Bluray 3D version. Do we have to extract the 2D from the 3D or do they include the 2D separately on the disc?

The Bluray 3D comes with the 2D version on disc 3, but I think that version is 2.35:1 and not open matte.

My disc glitched and froze just prior to the start of that chapter when they are trying to unlock the gate as the water rises. I exchanged the disc and the new one glitches if you start directly on that chapter, but otherwise seems to play fine during normal playback. I haven't checked the disc much beyond this.

I will note my Pansonic UB820 has had issues with two other Disney-produced discs (and one Universal) recently so I am not sure if there is some software issue occurring that could be causing these disc playback glitches.

You have to extract the "left-eye" AVC video track on PC and remux it to get 2D playback open-matte

Damn it, already got my Amazon.ca Copy and watched it. Oh well, they refunded me almost $10 because they price matched with Best Buy

I'd have done that if Walmart around here still carried any new releases. They don't even put them out it's just empty racks.

I don’t have an abstract of it, and wouldn’t trust myself to do that. It is nice though minus the disc change!

The 3D version has to have the a 2D video stream extracted from it, as the 2D Bluray is 2.35:1.

Is anyone else unable to watch their 4K disc? My copy plays in like 10 FPS or less and is incredibly unwatchable. I bought a new 4K Blu-ray player just for this film (my old one didn’t have Dolby Vision.) I’ve tested other discs that all play totally fine, even Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk plays perfect in 60 FPS.

Sounds like you may want to request an exchange from wherever you bought it. Or just return it as defective and buy a new copy if you can stomach a few extra days without the refund. I've had no issues playing it on my Panasonic DP-UB820 thus far. In Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos.

Personally, running it on a Sony A80J and the Panasonic DP-UB820, it looks goregeous (my opinion). The minor audio changes reported are annoying, and I do feel this mix pushes more on sound effects to the detriment of losing vocals, an unfortunate price to pay for the Atmos mix.

I enjoyed the new bonus materials, I just wish there were more of them, and that Cameron caved and just released a proper "fan cut" edit via seamless branching.

I also wish the menus were updated. I always wanted Van Ling's The Abyss DVD Menu Style put into Titanic.
