Well, there are a couple of possible factors that I think makes people feel that way. Believe me, you're not the only one.
1. If one has T2 on their mind following T3, Cameron's film had a very distinctive look for night time scenes. Cold steely blue. Since that film took place a good portion of the time at night, we're treated more to that style. With T3, Mostow wanted to go with the opposite to add what he called a "fiery" aesthetic to represent the nuclear fire. Thus the orangey reflections during night time scenes in certain scenes. ![]() ![]() 2. T3 takes place mostly during the day time which as an extension of my prior^ point, makes for a more difficult time presenting a stylish look. Only so much you can do with daylight. T3 has a more natural look most of the time because of it. I still don't quite get the "tv movie" complaint. It looks like cinema, Don Burgess who shot Forrest Gump and Spider-Man did this film. It's just we have T2 etched in our brain that the drastically different visual approach throws you off. T3 looks like cinema, it just doesn't look like T2. Also even T2 during its day time scenes looked pretty basic, right? Nothing stylish, just natural. Last edited by jess1581; 12-11-2023 at 09:06 PM. |

Terminator 3 looks like much less of a TV movie than does Killers of the Flower Moon (and other recent flicks).
Streaming and it's quest for content killed cinematography. As far as I'm concerned, Scorsese only had 2 great movies. But the popular opinion is that he's an accomplished and master class director whose lesser flicks are still GOAT films. While popular opinions have no place on this thread ( ![]() |

I don't even think it's viable anymore. TV and film practically look the same these days. We're talking TV circa 2003 though... at least, I think that's the basis we're going on.

Folks gripe about High Frame Rate making films look fake, too realistic, like a stage play. Modern cinematography is increasingly doing that at any framerate. |

I enjoy the Twilight saga.... Yep. As a horror fan I'm in no way disgusted by what is essentially a gothic romantic fantasy and melodrama with one of MANY different interpretations of vampires and werewolves. It's not really a horror series at all. I found the diamond skin to be interesting visually, and not a disservice to typical vampire lore. It's not like they went back and changed every vampire story or movie to have sparkling vampires.
Overall, I'm open to any genre as long as it's entertaining to me. Never read the books and have no intention to, but as movies, I dig the series... and yep I snagged the 4k steelbook boxset from BB. |

Enough with the T&A. Nobody wants to see that crap. Give us more D&A. It's what the people really want. Also, why can't adult films be like classic Hollywood masterpieces? Execpet with more hardcore sex. Like a Heat but with a lot hot xxx stuff. Preferably male, but whatever will do. The xxx stuff needs to be somehow integral to the plot though. Otherwise, it's just a cheap porn parody.

I think the point is being missed. This is an unpopular opinion thread and I voiced a very big one. I think more movies should have less T&A and more D&A. We see enough women nude, but never hardly see any male nudity. That was point one. As for point two is concerned, I was saying that I think more adult films should strive to be more like Hollywood movies with really good stories, dialogue, acting, and all that. Like say a Die Hard, Sleepless in Seattle, or The Firm type of movie but is XXX in nature. In other words, I think adult movies shouldn't be just screwing, bad acting, and no plot. I don't know why adult movies cannot be made and seen as legitimate moviemaking.
It is an unpopular opinion amongst those in the cinephile world and those who enjoy adult flicks. Neither of the two worlds rarely come together and I don't think that is a fair assessment of the genre in general. Part of that does have to do with the movies being made in that genre and the consumer not expecting more when they should. I hope this makes sense. Also, I am not trying to come across as a pimple-faced teen who just hit puberty. It's not meant to sound crass or dirty in the least. I think the art form of this genre that was somewhat present back in the past has been lost to the baser instincts of its genre and clientele. In other words, the genre is living up to its namesake too much these days. And the whole D&A thing is just really just sort of an equal thing. It's ok to show women in the buff and not men. And that point I was making goes back to this ideal that the human body can be art in itself. Saltburn is a very good example of that. It has nudity in the movie, but it's not meant to be some sort of Beavis and Butthead "boobies" thing. It shows the human body as art and an integral part of the movie. I was never trying to be pointed or super controversial. If it came off that way than I apologize. |
